The problem was probably one of expectation, we got the short straw room, at the back, very small, view over car park, dark. It had no character whatsoever. The room was tiny, there were 4 coat hangers in a teeny tiny closet. we kept our clothes in our bags. There was a tiny flat screen tv, but it had BBC and ITV, great, The whole room was caramel coloured and extremely depressing. Though it was clean and modern.
The bathroom was a good size, obviously for wheelchair users, we're not. The loo was so high my feet did not touch the ground, it was also very close to wall which was uncomfortable. There was a shower which was a sort of wet room which was not pleasant, no bath. The room was large and again had lots of floor space, but no surfaces for toiletries. There was a make up mirror, but it was in such a a high inaccessable place it was unusable.

The other spaces in the hotel are exceptionally nice, the terrace bar/ restaurant is lovely to sit at, the food is good. Prices are fine.

We booked 3 nights at this hotel and were advised that we had a 'special' rate. It was certainly special as the rates, already 3 x those of the other hotels in Bruges, increased by another 50% for the Saturday night. Staff were not very friendly and decidely aggressive when we queried the extra on the Saturday rate.
We stayed in one of the best suites, but found it minimal in furnishings and rather uncomfortable - there were even some of the electrical fittings hanging off the wall.
A meal in the restaurant was very expensive and the meat (rack of lamb) so undercooked it was bleating and was totally inedible. The 'Dame Blanche' was a joke - I can serve ice cream and chocolate sauce and give it a fancy name but that doesn't make it worth the extortionate amount charged.
Overall, this hotel is vastly overpriced and full of its own importance. There are a number of very good hotels in this town at less than half the price which are many times better. Not to be recommended.

“Great service, friendly staff”

We were relocated here from the Kempinsky after it did not open in time. We stayed in an Executive double which was very comfortable. Unfortunately though, the 'double' was two single beds pushed together which I didn't find very satisfactory. The jacuzzi bath and rain shower made up for it.... just.

The staff were lovely, especially the breakfast service and the reception.

I stayed at the Ravestein last week-end with my husband and my three years old son. The trip was a last minute idea, and I booked the last available room on the hotel website the night before. The reception staff was absolutely wonderful, we had booked a junior suite and were upgraded so that we could be 'more comfortable' as long as we were willing to change rooms on the second night. The first night we were upgraded to the largest suite available, a stunning suite on two levels, on the second night we were moved to the bridal suite, a wonderful room with canal view, fireplace and full size pullout couch for our son.

The hotel is located on a quiet street, 5 minutes walk from the main sites, the restaurant has a large terrace on a pictoresque canal, nice setting for a romantic dinner.
