The tours are every hour and we managed to catch the 11:00am one - they take approximately 45 minutes and at the end of the tour you get a free beer. Unfortunately you're only allowed the 6% beer, even though they make 4 different types, the strongest being 12%. We arrived at about 10:20am so bought the tickets and bought a drink, sitting outside in the courtyard.
It was very pleasant, even though I managed to spill my orange juice all over the table - one of the staff came along quickly and cleaned it up - I apologised and she was very pleasant about it saying 'If you don't regret anything in life, you've not really lived' which made me feel slightly less guilty about it!
The tour is split up into languages so all the English people went first. We had a female guide and she certainly told us some interesting facts about the beer - how it was made a long time ago, how it is made now... she had an 'interesting' sense of humour! Some of the stairs are quite steep so we had to go down backwards. There are a fair few stairs up to the top of the Brewery, however you do get a lovely view of the city and your guide points out some important landmarks of Brugge.
We certainly learnt a lot about how beer was made - the only thing that was slightly 'meh' was at the end of the tour when our guide let us know that 'tips are appreciated'. We would have probably given her something but you don't want to feel obliged to, if you know what I mean?
Certainly worth a visit - the surrounding area is absolutely beautiful
