“Fantastic Place”

Kempinski Hotel Duke's Palace

Elegance and luxury abound. Exceptional value as we were able to get an introductory rate given the May '08 recent opening. The top of the line furnishings, linens, and decor. The staff could not have been nicer and more solicitous. Every restaurant recommendation was superb. Our rate had breakfast included...and what a breakfast it was. One I will always remember.
We also loved the Quasimodo bike tour.

“Loved it!”

Kempinski Hotel Duke's Palace

2 Jun 2008

The hotel was in a fantastic location- very quiet but off the main street. For a new hotel there were a few minor issues- hairdryer blew up when I first tried to use it, swimming pool was freezing and toilet started blocking up!

Dukes breakfast complete with a glass of Moet, omelette, pastries, smoked salmon, fresh juice is a fantastic treat- so much food and great room service.

Overall a fantastic stay and a good value- I wouldn't hesitate to recommend it.

“Beautiful building in great location”

Kempinski Hotel Duke's Palace

A very high-class hotel, beautiful guest rooms and public rooms, we were very comfortable. The hotel had been open for less than 2 weeks at the time of our stay and the staff seemed to be still finding their feet, but were never less than friendly and helpful. Central location close to the main tourist sights but still secluded and quiet. If you are arriving by car, print the excellent directions from the hotel web site or you will have a problem finding it. Only minor gripe - the breakfast was not up to the quality of other hotels of this standard.

“A few teething problems”

Kempinski Hotel Duke's Palace

We stayed at this hotel over the weekend and were pleasantly surprised. It had jsut opened 2 weeks before and they did have a few teething problems. However, these were soon rectified. We had no hot water one morning, so were moved immediately to a beautiful suite overlooking the gardens. Our original room overlooked the front so in fact this was a 'blessing in disguise' as the front rooms tend to be a little noisy as they overlook the courtyard. Saying this, the rooms were beautifully furnished.

The Spa was not open and the pool temperature was a little cold to use but I think this is still early days so it will soon be sorted.

The staff were most helpful and the garden area was beautifully set out, ideal for a cocktail on a long summer evening.

The bathrooms had underflooor heating which was lovely for us as it was nice to come back to after being in the rain all day and feeling a little damp!

We ate in the restaurant the first night and the food was excellent.

The hotel is in an excellent position away from all the hustle and bustle but still central enough to get to everything easily.

Watch the prices in Bruges central square though. We ended up paying £8.00 for two coffees!

All in all, we would definitely go back to the Kempinski

“Lovely fairytale castle in the heart of Bruge”

Beautiful peaceful hotel which is a true 5 star luxury hotel (unlike a lot of other Eurpoean hotels claiming to be 5 star).

There were a few problems though (although it had just opened a few weeks before so maybe it will improve), our luggage - when we got to our room our luggage was still not there (despite check-in taking forever!), it took 2 phone calls to reception to finally see our bags arrive. The only other gripe was the air-conditioning - dispite having it turned up to the maximum it was still quite warm in our room and the windows did not open - it was unusually hot weather at 28 degrees though - in May!

The room was lovely (203) - vey large and the bathroom was also a great size. Staff were very helpful with restaurant bookings and any other qustions we had. Very close to all the major sites whilst having the benefit of being away from all the tourists! Glad I chose this rather than some of the other 5 star hotels right on the canal as there is just too many people around to make it relaxing.

Lovely romantic setting, would definitley go back.
