We stayed 3 days in this Pousada last December and had a pleasant vacation. It has a beautiful location and scenery on the top of the hill, inside the castle. Pousada’s interiors, corridors and rooms looked like a museum (paints, pottery, tapestries) and we felt like returning to its ancient days. However, in my opinion, it needs some remodelling works especially in bathrooms. Common room and bar are pleasant places for reading and relaxing. Staff is cordial and professional. Restaurant is very good but too expensive. Some people say it is one of the best Portuguese Pousada, but in my opinion it is not.

We decided to stay at the Pousada de Estremoz because it had some very good reviews. Maybe our expectations were too high but I have to say were very disappointed. Our room was not what we would have expected from a 4 star hotel. It was all very basic and the bathroom was in need of reburbishment. The pool area is in a nice spot with views over Estremoz but it also could do with some TLC. The entrance hall and reception area are very grand though, as are the dining rooms and the breakfast was very nice but I would certainly not go back there to stay again.

Excelent building, magnificient atmosfere, very good food and nice staff. All is there to make you feel like a real King and Queen.

Stay at the Pousada Reinha Santa Isabel and feel like royalty for a night. My wife and I had a lovely night at the Pousada in October 2005. Our room - on the second floor was not terribly large - but with high ceilings and antique furnishings - it still had a luxury feel. Our window opened up to the Courtyard where we had a terrific view of the Castle Tower. The food was excellent and the service was exceptional. The public areas are luxerious - and walking up the main staircase was like stepping back centuries to another way of life. Worth the splurge.
