This was mine and my boyfriends first holiday abroad together after 4 years together, we stayed at the Oceanus for a week at the beginning of September.

After booking with the travel agents I was pleased when I read some of the reviews, although a little worries it may be abit quiet with nothing much to do to do in Olhos D'Agua itself, which I was wrong about.

We booked with Style holidays and the moment we stepped off the plane to the moment we got home everything was perfect. We arrived at the hotel around 11.30ish in the morning, the lady on the desk was very helpful and we could check in around 12, the apartment was very spacious for the 2 of us and was very clean. We were really lucky to have a pool view balcony, would recommend room 207? The pool snack bar is spot on and the staff there also are very friendly, we were made to feel very welcome, they serve all day and do allsorts of food, we even got a takeaway pizza one night and took it to our room. We found it a brilliant place and the pool area never got too busy so easy to get a sun lounger and although some bits go in the shade in the afternoon still easy to find some sunlight. ( Very clean) Would recommend to anyone who wants a chilled out time as is easy enough and cheap enough to get to the busier places if need be.

On the opposite side of the hotel is the main road, so try and opt for a pool view if you have a chance as I can imagine it being abit loud. It is ideal though for taxis and buses and taxis to Albufreira new town only cost us about 3 euros but we always gave about 5 to be polite. At home it would be much dearer. Loved the strip, lots of cocktail bars and steak houses and full of entertainment. If you get chance then go to the bullring, we went on our last night and it was brilliant.

Olhos D'Agua itself is not very busy but nice in the evening to go out for a quiet drink and a meal, we enjoyed La Cigale the restaurant next to the beach. Also make sure you go to Pickwicks, the English Pub by the beach, proper English food, fish and Chips nice there. Only about a 5 minute walk to the beach from the hotel, but beware the hill back up is steep and tiring in the heat. Good exercise though. The beach is not too small like some other reviews say, always found somewhere to sit down.

We arranged a trip to the Zoomarine on the 2nd day, this is well worth a visit and the dolphins are brilliant. All day only cost about 52 euros for both of us.

Well worth staying there and we would definitely go back there. Would recommend these apartments.

“Nice Apartment & Friendly Staff”

Aparthotel Oceanus

We stayed in Aparthotel Oceanus in early October 2007 and were very impressed with the standards we found.

The apartment was clean and well equipped with a modern kitchen and lovely tiled bathroom. More than adequate for a week of self catering.

The Staff were very friendly and genuine offering advice on local amenities and travel and made our stay a relaxed and enjoyable experience.

The hotel is located close to good local amenities including a supermarket, pharmacy, taxi and bus stops, and the nice local beach.

There are plenty of bars and restaurants in Olhos D'Agua, where the Hotel is, and you can walk to New Town Albufeira in about 30 mins (enough to work up a thirst on the way there and walk off the drinks on the way back!)

We went for a cheap bit of late summer sun and the facilities we found more than met all our expectations for the price of the holiday. Recommended!

We stayed at Oceanus for a week and enjoyed our time there.

The hotel is clean and is close to basic facilities;

- beach
- supermarket
- restaurants
- pubs
- pharmacy
- bus stop
- taxi rank

The staff and very friendly and very helpful.

On the down-side;

- pool is overlooked by high rise apartments and in shadow after 3.30pm
- pool water is cold (common feature of Portugese pools!)
- sofa is very uncomfortable (doubles as sofa-bed)
- roadside rooms are quite noisy with traffic
- big new apartment block being built directly opposite the hotel

Overall, we got good value for money at the Oceanus and we were happy with it.

Found the Travel agent on the net and we really liked the apartments they had on their site as a result contacted them and got a great deal for 2 week staying in the Oceanus. The agent himself had stayed there ask what did we wanted from our holiday. He couldn't have picked a better spot.
Everything was perfect from the start, the staff of the hotel are lovely and nothing was too much trouble. The rooms, pool area and the hotel itself is clean and well maintained. There was only 2 of us staying so we had loads of room but a group of 4 will find the balcony area a bit tight. Ask for a corner apartment!!!
While we did eat out in Albeferia, it is was just that little more expensive but still cheaper than home. What I didn't like is being dragged into restaurants...very annoying. We were much happier eating out in Ohlas D'Agua and fell in love with2 great restaurants ... I Fratelli is a great Italian..its a family run restaurant . Try the House Special starter of Mushrooms they are truely MAGIC I also was a big fan of the Pesto pasta.. The staff are lovely u may be asked to wait for 10 min for a table but make sure u do. U won't be disappointed. My other recommendation is Pickwicks Tavern down by the beech... Excellent Cod Chips and Mushy Peas... Great Chicken Curry with Half and half...Portions where Huge. Oh be sure to use the hotel snack bar its excellant.
The beech is small so watch the tides . At high tide there is very little of the beech left... Sun Lounger's are expenisve €15 a pair saucy when High tide will also affect the sun lounger area.
Thanks to all in the Cabana bar we had some great nights there and met some great people...The complimentary picture is a nice touch.
We were lucky we met some lovely people on our hols which made our holiday even more perfect..and as a result our next trip will be to Sunderland ... u can take it won't be for the weather I believe soccer and shopping are on the agenda...Jan Nick we will see ye soon. Thanks for the laughs...Michael no longer lives in hobbit land ...I did have a problem getting him home he didn't want to leave his umbrella behind!!!!
I don't think there is a kids club in the Oceanus but if you have beech kids that love rock pools head for the beech at low tide fun to be had by all with plenty creatures to spot.

Booked online via Easyjet and stopped between 17/09/2007 and 27/09/2007. The hotel reception staff greeted us with open arms, I felt as if they were family within a few minutes of arriving.
We had rooms on the first floor facing the road. Now we did read that these rooms can be a little noisy and yes they are during the day. At night we closed the doors and put on the air con which was adequate. If you get the chance, book a room facing the pool. The apartments were clean, spacious and had everything you require during your stay. The maids cleaned the room daily and supplied us with fresh towels daily too
The pool area was spotless, and has a cafe/bar which do exellent snacks and drinks throughout the day. The cooked breakfast was really good value at 4.5 euros.
In the resort, there are about 20/25 restaurants so plenty of choice on offer. To be honest, we never had a bad meal at any of the restaurants we visited, I Fratelli (italian) and the chinese (forget the name) were our favourites.....the latter we visited twice!!
The resort of olhos d,agua is ideal for those wanting a fairly relaxing holiday. The beach was 5 mins walk from the hotel. I would not recommend the resort to those with walking difficulties as there are a couple of steep hills to encounter and the pavements are not in the best condition.
There are two supermarkets within 5 mins walk of the hotel, both have everything you would want during your stay.
For those wishing to venture further afield, there are both taxi and bus stops directly opposite the hotel...the journey by taxi into albufeira takes about 10 mins and would cost around 5 euros. Beware the 7pm taxi rank....apparantly they change drivers at this time and your wait can be a long time!!!!
Having just spent my 32nd trip abroad at this hotel and for one who doesnt normally revisit a hotel, I am considering going back next year. I think this is an indication of how nice the whole holiday was.
Oh, and to cap it all.......visit the Cabana Bar.........lovely hosts, good beer and cocktails for the ladies!!
And a final P.S......we met a lovely couple from Cork who put the icing on the cake for this holiday......so hi to Mick and Caroline, if you read this, post a review!!
