What a lovely place to stay! The house is a stunning country period property and the rooms furnished with beautiful dark wood and white linens. The staff were friendly and welcoming and the service was very personal but informal - it felt like staying at a friend's house really! The surrounding areas include a palace which is being refurbished, a roman country house, tiny villages and panoramic hilltop views. At just 20mins from the airport and the beaches, golf resorts and other tourist areas it is ideal for a short break....... All this and 25 degrees in October. Go there!

  • Liked — The individuality and period furnishings
  • Disliked — Could not have a proper shower - shower in bath

A charming old house with just a very few well furnished rooms and friendly and helpful staff. Ask the manager to advise on trips into local Portugal. Estoi is a 1 horse town (just!) but its real Portugal unlike its coastal neighbours. We ate very well at Vterra at the bottom end of the village which was excellent and run by Belgian Ginther and his Portuguese wife Kitty phone ahead as it gets busy Tel 289 997 198.
Only small criticism of the Casa is that breakfasts were a bit limited and boring after 3 days the same with improvement there an excellent rating would be warranted

We have just returned from 2 days at the Casa de Estoi. Having read earlier reviews, we were looking forward to our stay. It did not disappoint. After a 15 minute, €13 taxi ride from the airport we were warmly greeted by Joao who gave us a tour of this most impressive property and then showed us to our comfortable, clean and charming bedroom. After a vist to a couple of the local bars we were happy to return to the Casa de Estoi for a nightcap from the honesty bar. Next morning a plentiful buffet breakfast (served from 9am to 11am) was laid out by the Irene, the lovely housekeeper who gives a warm welcoming smile with her "bom dias" each morning.

The Casa is large old townhouse, where you are welcome to amble from each beautifully furnished room to the next. The furnishings and artwork are almost worth a visit in themselves, but it is Joao and Irene who really make the visit worthwhile. They are soooo welcoming yet will happily leave you to your own devices.

Estoi is a small sleepy town which insists that you slow down to its pace. A couple of days here will leave you refreshed, relaxed looking forward to your next visit.

We stayed here for 10 days during late August. An old fashioned private house that has been turned into a sall hotel with 6 or 7 rooms, this is a relaxing place to stay away from the bussle of the Algarve.

The owners are present to help you with any question you might have, or to offer advice but generally leave you in peace. There is a pool to relax by and a honesty bar where you serve yourself. Apart from that, the hotel serves breakfast at a communal table (everyone together) but not lunch or dinner.

Only negative point is that its a bit noisy. Its in the village (surrounded by high walls for privacy) but there is a lot of noise from the traffic and the various events that happen in the village. Insist on a room away from the street.

This historic home turned bed and breakfast hotel is on the main square of the town of Estoi, a ten minute drive north from the Faro Airport. The town has a number of summer festivals including one in late June which shows a music/dance celebration honoring one of the country’s saints. The hotel manager is absolutely charming and recommends excellent beach, food and sightseeing choices throughout the Algarve and in Lisbon (he used to live there). The family cat Chica welcomes you and the yummy breakfast in the shaded courtyard (during summer; during winter it is served in the regal dinning room) is the perfect setting for a quiet holiday. The home retains original antique furnishings, a pool table and game room. There is a small pool and a separate apartment for a group more than two. A car is recommended if traveling in the Algarve as the beaches and small towns are well worth exploring. For the price, location, setting and atmosphere this hotel is a must.

  • Liked — The manager and staff of two make the place like home and the property is superb.
  • Disliked — Nothing was not to like.
