i stayed here with my family. The first apartment was ground floor with no sitting area and i didnt realise until the middle of the night that the air conditioning units were next to the room... These were very loud and kept us awake. Look out for these upon checkin. We asked to move and reception were very good. The next room first floor had a seperate living area in addition to the 2 bedroom areas. The fridge was good, lack of hairdryer and kettle which i thought was a bit unusual. So take your own if you need them. The rooms were very clean and the grounds to the area very good. The food in the restaurant was a bit 2/3 star quality. The pool was not busy at all. Luz itself is very quiet and nice for a relaxing break. The chinese restaurant near the bus stop was absolutely first class and we are very fussy.... There is some building work going on to the back of the apartments but no cranes as previous reports. They are just making the finishing touches to the site. This will certainly not interfere with your holiday. A taxi to Lagos was very cheap at only 6 euros at the most.

Have just had a weeks holiday with the kids and had a really good time. Rooms are spacious and spotless - girls had separate sleeping area from us. Pool area excellent. Our room also had a fridge - rare in our experience of resort hotels. OK breakfast - plenty of it anyway. Praia de Luz is a great place - lots of good restaurants, ate somewhere different each night, Fab beach. And all this only 45 minutes from Faro airport. Hotel offers transfer service but at 70euros each way, our hire car was much cheaper!

“Fantastic hotel!!!”

We are a thirties couple with two boys aged 7 years and 10 years. We all thoroughly enjoyed our stay in the Luz Bay Club Hotel. It was ideally situated a short stroll from the small town of Luz with a great beach. The local restaurants in Luz are amazing we didnt have a bad meal all week and ate at a different place each night. Ones to look for are Chaplins, Atlantico and Cavaleiro da luz, all in Luz. The next small town along the coast Bergau, has an amazing restaurant on the beach (which i believe was called Beach Bar Bergau or similar) Its the only one there so you cant miss it. The Sea Bass there was to die for, it may well be worth your while booking in advance for that one as they say it gets very busy and rightly so!
The hotel was brilliant, my children loved all the pools and thought the turkish bath was great fun. The rooms were immaculate, ours was on two levels with a double bedroom upstairs and a kitchen/living area/bathroom and beds for the kids on the lower level. The kitchen was very well equiped and very clean and new, as was everything in the apartment. We had complimentary buffet breakfast which was more than enough, and very good quality. Serving continental breakfast, cooked english, toast, breads, croissants, fruit, yoghurts, fruit juices, coffee, tea etc every morning. The staff were friendly and efficient. We didnt eat in the hotel restaurant at lunch time or evening as there are so many local restaurants to try all at very good prices for the excellent food and service we recieved.
We hired a car for the duration of our stay and used it almost every day, visiting zoo marine (great dolphin/birds of prey/tropical birds/seal/sealion shows and rides for the kids), Albufiera, we visited the fishermans old town part, which was great. The westerly point Sao Vincente and Sagres, and Lagos where we went on a tall ship to visit the grotto caves, we pulled along our speed boat and transferred to that to get a closer look. For 15 Euros each we thought it was well worth the trip, thoroughly enjoyed it. You can get tickets from the Marina in Lagos.
We also visited Tiffanys horse riding school, where we had a half hour lesson followed by a trek up into the heathland. Amazing fun! the boys hadnt rode a horse before and when the instructor had finished with them they were budding cowboys. A very proffesional and safe school to take the family.
Every beach we visited on our trip was beautiful, lovely golden sand and deep blue sea. Luz itself is a very unspoilt area and we were incredibly happy with this as our choice. We would definitely highly recommend this hotel and location and we would not hesitate in going back again to Luz bay club another year.

“Not a 4 star hotel”

Luz Bay Club Hotel

We got there after a nightmare flight that stranded us in Dallas and connected us to france then lisbon then to Faro. We drove according to the directions givin and was hopelessly lost until I chanced it with the Portugese that I learned with the Pimsluer system I had purchased. Finaly found it and wasnt dissatisfied with the hotel. We checked in and the staff was great. We got to our room and dropped off our stuff. The two twin beds that constituded the queen were without any box spring at all. It was amaizingly uncomfortable. We went to the hotels kitchen to get some late dinner and it was a buffet. We grabbed some plates and went up to the buffet and there were merely scraps left and the cook had turned off the kitchen I guess and wasnt making anymore food. It was the worst buffet I had ever been to with soggy roast beef and undercooked potatos. The charge for sub-standard Army chow that we were fed was 35 Euros (thats $43.00).
The location is so nice and the grounds of the hotel are beautiful. It is in a perfect location for the beach and close to the town of Lagos. It could use a hottub instead of a turkish bath, but not to bad........
I was extreamly alergic to something in the room and I don't have alergies of any sort so I had a awful time of it in the room. So shower time rolls around and bam no hot water. I try to call the front desk and bam the phone doesnt work. We try and find our luggage that was late from the plane and bam I cant call out. This was a really interesting trip.

All in all the hotel wasnt bad....it wasnt as great as it was advertised however. I Stayed at the 4 seasons in Arizona, which is a 4 star and I had to ask for nothing. This is not a 4 star by any means. Expect a 2 1/2 star at best.

“Great new year getaway”

Luz Bay Club Hotel

My partner and I were unwilling to spend our New Year in London and due to cheap flights, decided the Algarve was calling our name. And oh what a fab time we had. We stayed for five nights in the Luz Bay Club Hotel, which is undoubtedly one of the best hotels I have ever stayed in. With immaculate facilities, comfortable rooms and joyful staff it was such a recommendable break. This hotel also boats villas and apartments, situated 5 minutes away. The surrounding town of Luz was impeccable with great entertainment. Lagos is also a near drive away, which is more suited to youngsters with it's vast array of clubs (every type imaginable!!) All staff are trained to the highest standard and do not hesitate to help, which is much appreciated by my partner and I. This is a very recommended break and i will inevitably be returning in the summer months.
