We stayed here from 10th - 19th May 2008,what a mistake we made.
We got greeted well by a friendly receptionist and then had a meal. The evening dinner was expensive,Do not mind if it is decent, this waas thepoorest meal ever.My wife had a salad which consisted of very little content.I had chichen which was small legs in a stew style.Peasant food in a stew with a fancysauce, awful, the chips/batata fritter were freshly made and good. Very expensive and not filling. We never eat there again apart from breakfast,
Breakfast was dismal, food which should of been hot was cold, scrambled egg being one item.Lukewarm water for tea and staff whom had always to be asked to top up hot food did not seem trained in catering matters.Coffee was very stale and lukewarm..There were no tea/cofee making faciklities in the room,we upgraded to a suite which was okay but did not seem any bigger than a typical 4Star Hotel double room.Water was never very hot though. When on the rare occasion on an evening we went for a drink in the bar it seemed a great hassle for the young waitress to give peanuts with the drinks, when asked politely she tutted and poured a minute amount into a saucer for us from the remains of a bag.We felt all the time we were guests in a home who had outstayed their welcolme. There there always local christenings on which appeared to be the main buisness of Hotel Inglaterra,we were pushed aside. Not a 4 Star Hotel i would rate this a glorified bed and breakfast.Lovely coast, very poor restuarants, exhoribant prices and poor quality apart from the steak house in Hotel Villa Gale, but the waitresses were rude.Good for gambleres to waste their money in the nearby casino and a boring holiday if you want it.

We would recommend Vilamoura in the Algarve to viist and highly recommend the Vila Gale Hotel there where we stayed in November 2007.

PLEASE DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY ON THIS B AND B.

We arrived at the hotel with little in the way of good expectations as we had booked a golf trip with the hotel being part of the package. When we arrived we were greeted like we were returning guests. We found the room and the bathroom to be a touch on the small side but we only slept there so no problems with that. We found the hotel to be very quiet even though there were plenty of guests staying at the time. The fact that the corridoors are carpeted helped to keep any noise to a minimum. The breakfast was a typical hotel style. Parking is on the local streets but we found no difficulties in this. The hotel is on a hill situated close to a good all round supermarket as well as being near to plenty of great restaraunts and the train station to Lisbon and Caiscais is only a few minutes away. I would rate this hotel as a good place for the middle aged to older person who would be out all day doing other things such as golf or site seeing. It is not a hotel for families. We are already looking to book a room in this hotel in Oct 08 and would recommend this hotel to anyone looking for somewhere quite.

“Enjoyed our stay.....”

Best Western Hotel Inglaterra

5 Apr 2008

We stayed here in July 2007 for 5 nights. Hotel was really lovely - the building itself has a lot more character than many of the 60's/70's style breeze block buildings at the bottom of the hill, although the views are limited. The room was really contemporary with all mod cons needed and the hotel facilities (pool etc.) were great. It's in a good location - just 5 minutes walk down to the seaside, and then it's easy to get into Lisbon by train, to walk/train to Caiscais or to go further afield (Sintra). We had no complaints at all and for the price we paid felt it was excellent value for money (we booked online through Thomson).

“Fawlty Towers”

Best Western Hotel Inglaterra

30 Mar 2008

We stayed in the hotel for 3 nights. The weather was not good which meant the room was cold. We had a suite on the top floor. There were draughts blowing through badly fitted windows. The only remedy for this was extra blankets, no change of room was offered, even though the hotel had very few guests at the time. The heating was not working very well.
The suite had a tiny bathroom with towels badly worn and some having holes in them, the bidet was not fixed properly to the floor and was in fact dangerous. The shower leaked onto the floor.

But worst of all was the restaurant, we only risked breakfast !!! The majority of the crockery was chipped. Luke warm, unclean water for tea making, a very poor selection of foods. The staff never spoke or greeted us as we arrived. The only words said were "room number". When we brought a problem re the scrambled eggs, they were beyond eating as we assume they were there for severel hours, the waitress merely smiled!!

Another hidden charge was a fee of €3.50 per day for a key to a safe, surley a basic service. I enquired if there was a charge for internet and was informed €5 for access in the bedroom but free in the business centre. On checking out I was told ther was a charge for it. The internet was the slowest I have ever used.

On checking out, while pointing out the problem,
a manager finally arrrived and in fairness listen to our grievences. She eventually took off the key and internet charges and gave us a reduction on our bill.

The hotel has great potential but as a starting point, perhaps they could recruit staff that greet customers and buy some towels and crockery.

“Staff should provide a better service”

I’ve stayed 2 nights at this hotel.

I confess that it’s a beautiful hotel (great building and modern furniture) and it’s very well located (2 minutes walk from sea and the Casino).

It has a swimming pool, gym, a nice bar and a fun room (with books, games and a big screen). Rooms are well decorated, but they have a tiny bathroom.

You can check out all this facilities on my photos.

What I really didn’t like was the staff service. They weren’t rude… but, mostly, they weren’t nice! I have asked, at some occasions, for something that was missing on breakfast, and they haven’t answered and turn you back(for example); most of the time, you enter and leave the hotel, without any compliment. And, for me, a 4 star hotel has to provide you a high service of attendance at all services (restaurant, breakfast, etc).

So, for that point of view, I don’t think it worths the price! (Since it’s not a cheap hotel). Tiny bathrooms has helped also on this 3 star voting. It’s a pitty, because I think this hotel could (with new carpets, better food service and staff) become one of the best 4 stars hotels of Estoril, since it’s a beautiful building and has all the conditions for it.
