“Very good quality-price rate”

Hotel Novotel Lisboa

4 Jun 2008

I stayed here during my spring holiday this year. As we were going to spend an entire week in Lisbon, we wanted to be on the safe side and avoid any possible disappointments, so we decided for a chain hotel, not a local one.

The hotel was exactly what we wanted: very clean, big rooms. Nice and friendly staff, helped us with directions, calling a cab, renting the car, etc.

Our room was facing the main street, but no noise disturbed us during our stay. Lots of light in the room, very big room, nice and clean. The bathroom was very nice and very big.

We booked breakfast also - and proved to be a good deal - good food and very nice fresh fruits..

Although the hotel is not in the city center or on a main boulevard, it is 5 minute walk from metro station. But I definitely recommend taxi: it is very cheap -around 5-6 Euro/journey ( to the city center or Bairro Alto).

However this location is perfect if you want to rent a car and visit the coast - it is very easy to reach once you leave the highway and enter Lisbon. Also reaching the city center is easy, as there are no traffic jams.

Overall we loved our stay there, and would go back anytime.

Bedrooms are nice, clean and spacious - only niggles are polysterene cups rather than proper ones and the mini window.

Hotel itself is very nice with a nice pool area. Breakfast isn't fantastic but there is a wide selection.

Would recommend and would stay here again.

“Good value for Money in a quiet area of Lisbon”

A group of friends and I stayed at the Novotel Lisboa for a girly weekend a few weeks ago. Overall I was very happy with my stay.

The hotel itself is slightly out of the main "throng" of Lisbon, it is located in the financial district but still only cost us around 6 Euros to get to the city centre and Docks, where most of the nightlife is.

The hotel as a small pool, which we used every day. The pool itself looked like it had not been cleaned for a few weeks, but was pleasant enough and really refreshing to jump into after a long day of sunbathing. There is a good number of sun loungers around the pool. Do watch out for the planes though - the hotel is right on the flight path to Lisbon airport, however the glazing in the hotel is amazing though as when we were in our rooms we couldn't hear a thing!

The rooms were modern and comfortable. The bed was gorgeous and very hard to get out of every morning! The rooms were huge, with sofas, flat screen tv's, a well stocked mini bar and brand new en-suite with a really powerful shower.

We only ate in the restaurant once, but the food was well prepared and great value for money.

Overall I would definitely stay at the Novotel again. Yes, its a chain and yes, it can be very soul-less, but its great value for money and not too far away from the action.

“Clean and nice”

Hotel Novotel Lisboa

30 Apr 2008

We took the AeroShuttle from the airport which drops you in front of the hotel and costs 3euro one way. It allows you to use all busses for 24h.

The hotel looks clean and the design is contemporary.

The swimming pool is small and needs some refurbishment and additional loungers.

The rooms are big and nice and have a minibar, safe, expensive wifi. The minibar is a fridge which you can empty then use as your own fridge.

At reception was a Mac corner with two computers which were free to use. You had to log in with your name and could use it for 20 min. You could use it to print boarding passes. The printer did not work at the time though.

Breakfast was ok. There was lots of choice including scrambled eggs, garlic mushrooms, bacon, sausage (frankfurter, no proper baked ones), juices, fruit, yoghurt , cereals. One morning the coffee we received was luke warm. The mustard had been out of date for a month.

It was difficult to get cutlery once your tray had been cleared but wanted more.

The hotel is a few metro stops from the centre and the metro stop is a 5min walk.

Overall nice hotel with friendly staff. Languages used were French, English and Portuguese of course.

Although the location was out of town, the hotel was near the tube and quiet.

The rooms seemed to be recently refurbished and of a good size.

Window was broken but didn't significantly detract from the experience.

Being a novotel wasn't huge on character and location in business district was predictably soul-less but overall was a very reasonable experience and quick into Lisbon and not far from the airport.
