The best feature of this basic run-of-the-mill clean hotel is its across-the-street proximity to Lisbon’s Gulbenkian museum, the grounds of which are an absolute must-visit to anyone with an interest in simple yet innovative tranquil landscaping in the midst of the city hustle.

The hotel room is basic in amenities and furnishings, but very clean and well kept. The bathrooms seem to be recently renovated. The staff is exceptionally knowledgeable, fluent in English, and extremely friendly. The breakfast offerings are somewhat disappointing and the canned fruits are an absolute let down. The hotel is not at the center of most attractions, but a 5-minute walk to Sao Sebastiao metro station followed by a 10-minute ride to the central Rossio station. Or, only a 5-Euro and 10-minute taxi ride to almost anywhere most visitors would want to head towards. Moreover, it’s only a 15-minute and a 10-Euro taxi ride from the airport. And, the chance to get a glimpse of a typical Lisbon neighborhood is an extra bonus.

Given the room rate, it’s a great bargain for someone who does not care for frills and does not mind getting back and forth using public transportation or Lisbon’s cheap and clean taxis.

Stayed for 3 nights, and personally think is a great hotel.

1)Near Metro (5-10 minute walk.) and in a nice area.

2)Good size clean room & bathroom, in room safe for a small fee. and very comfy beds, the wardrobes even have hangers in which is useful! and Air conditioning.

3) Freindly polite & helpful staff.

4) Ample breaky including hot and cold food. (although as per previous comments do avoid the bigger coffee machine as it does produce an unusual tasting coffee!!)

At the moment I would ask for a room at front of hotel as there is building work going on at back and can be noisy early morning if you stay during week - but this is no means a negative on the hotel as the work is nothing to do with them!!

I will stay here again next time I visit Lisbon.

We spent four nights there with my wife in the beginning of August 2006. I was not realy satisfied - but OK, it was cheap.

The main points are:

1. First of all, it was terrible noisy. We stayed at the 9th floor and all the airplaines was landing just in front of our room (I attach a photo about what we saw in every second minute). The first some plain can be interesting mainly for those who flies not too often, but after the first night you spend there it is not too funny. he saturday night was the worst! There was a concert or something like hat near there, and it was impossible to seep even on the 9th floor! Imagine how it could have been on he 3rd one?! We just heard the drums and the bass guitar all night. Basicly I really like the noisy kind of music (AC/DC, Metallica etc.), but not in te evening...

2., Secondly, the bed was awful, it was impossible to have a rest there. It was too snug to sleep healthy. It is not offered for honeymooners ;-)

3., Thirdly, the staff was not too familiar. We tried to salvo them every morning when we went or an all day walk and every evening wen we arrived back to the hotel, but they gave us the go-by. They didn't even smiled or looked at us.

4., Fourth one: the cofee machine at the breakfast. You'd better choose the steel can for the coffee. Te taste of the cofee coming from the (I think Nescafe) macine is awfully machine-made. Maye the water is stale in it...

5., Finally, there are some good points. The rooms and the hotel is really clear, there are no problems with daily cleaning. And the location is not bad, it takes 5-10 minutes walk to the Sao Sebastiao metro station.

So, it is only 2 ponts of 5 (my wife says it is only 1..., but let it be 2 because of the relatively low price).

We were moved to this hotel after our reserved hotel was overbooked.
It is located around 10 minutes walk from the nearest Metro station and therefor not recommended for small children (who walk slowly)...
Rooms are small but adequte. Our room faced the back of the hotel which was quite ugly (curtains shut most of the time).
To use the safe in the room you have to pay 3Euro a day and deposit 20.
Restaurant has great breakfast but very poor dinner.
Receptionists gave excellent service, recommended good restaurant and had good knowledge of transport options in the city.
In summary: a very average hotel, far from the city center and attractions but maybe worth the price.
