Stayed Feb. 14 - 16 for a quick toursit visit to Lisbon. A taxi from the airport was 16 euros during rush hour (fancy brand new Mercedes with superb English-speaking driver), and 8-9 euros back to the airport in a older car on Saturday.
Great location convenient to Parque Eduardo XVIII, El Corte Ingles, and the Gulbenkian Museum. The San Sabastiao metro subway station is very close. There are two entrances, one on a street close to the hotel and one inside the basement of El Corte Ingles. Very convenient and cheap to get around town. Also several restaurants and pastelerias extremely closeby. I liked the peace and quiet of the residential neighborhood, yet there was activity and people during the day.
Traditionally decorated lobby with a modern, Asian bent. Rooms and other facilities had a plain Western traditional look. Very clean and in good repair. Hotel staff spoke English reasonably well and were super helpful with transporting luggage to and from the room, calling taxis, booking a city tour, changing our euros to smaller denominations many times, etc. Plus the maid was polite, respected do not disturb signs, and did a good job cleaning.
Free breakfast in the basement was good. The scrambled eggs, croissants, toast, fresh fruit (kiwis, papayas, pineapple), yogurt, cereal and milk were excellent. The bacon was undercooked to my preference (I like it almost burnt, though) and the little red European sausages were weird. Very good breakfast, and even better that it is free!
Room was as expected. Real wood furniture, closet with free safe, flat screen tv with several choices of international cable channels in Portuguese, Spanish, German, and English. Bathroom tight but had full tub, shower massage wand, and bidet. The bathroom outlet could accomodate American plugs without converter; however it is the only free outlet in the entire hotel room. I liked that the window could open to let in fresh air.
Most of the guests were Spanish or German. Even mix of business people and tourists over 30.
All in all, very comfortable hotel which I would stay in again should I visit Lisbon.
