The Marriott, Lisbon is ideally located only ten minutes by taxi from the airport, and served by buses, train and metro into the city, no more than five to ten minutes' walk away.
Check-in at around 1:30pm was swift and easy, and we received help with our bags to our room from a most helpful concierge. He spent a good ten minutes giving us advice about the city, places to see and how to get about easily.
We had a bed and breakfast package for four nights, but ended up eating dinner there three nights out of the four, the food was so good!
Breakfast was a huge buffet with everything from fresh fruit through a traditional cooked affair, and ending with waffles, maple syrup and chocalate sauce - brilliant.
All the staff were helpful and attentive, and the room was as comfortable and well appointed as one would expect from this chain of hotels
The Birthday Treat? While we were there, it was my wife's birthday, and on enquiring at reception as to the possibility of having dinner around 9pm that evening after attending a concert nearby as a birthday event, we were assured it was perfectly possible to eat at that hour (apparently Portuguese people regularly eat late) and on learning of my wife's celebration, the receptionist arranged for a complimentary bottle of champagne with strawberries and chocolate dipping sauce in our room on our return from the concert.
Next time we stay for a week!!
