Very impressive. Some staff friendlier than others but all courteous and efficient. My wife and son and I had a two-bedroom apartment (with two bathrooms, kitchenette and balcony), which was completely cleaned daily. The buffet breakfast, included in the price, is excellent and broad-ranging and is available from 7.00 to 10.30 am. There are indoor and outdoor pools, and a little private cinema that you can book as you wish to watch a list of English-language or other movies. Also a well-equipped gym, steam room and outdoor tennis court that doubles as an Astra mini-soccer court. All facilities are included in the price. Rooms facing the river estuary and sea have the nicest view. There is no beach nearby.
There is a system of uniformed Solplay drivers you can book. Although it works out between 50% and 100% more than fairly low priced taxis, we had a couple of unpleasant experiences with taxi drivers re route, price and/or standard of driving at speed and would recommend the hotel cars for their quality and comfort.
Busses into Lisbon and down to the coastal railway at Alges (betwen Estoril/Cascais and Lisbon) may be boarded every twenty minutes from the Rua Manuel Ferreira, just out the main gate and right around the corner.
There is also an ATM a little past these bus stops by the small supermarket and cafe on the right. The no. 11 leaves you at the Marques de Pompal roundabout at the top of the Avenida da Liberdade (and you can get it gack to the hotel from this same stop in Lisbon: fare 2.50).
Down the hill from the hotel, just five to ten minutes walk away on Avenida Don Pedro V, are grocery shops and a couple of nice coffee/pastry places, a pizza takeaway and a number of little restaurants. We ate three times at a friendly and busy local bistro called "A Grelha" (Rua Antero de Quental no. 22-B, having turned right for a block off Pedro V) and found it better quality and value than most the meals we had in Lisbon. By the way, all Fado places in Lisbon are pretty much for tourists. We had a pleasant Fado dinner at "Ja Disse" on Rua Diario de Noticias in Bairo Alto, although the food may be better (and is dearer) at nearby Cafe Luso.
