If you plan to stay at this hotel, make sure that you are not given a room with connecting doors, which results in extremely poor noise insulation. I could hear people talking in the next room, sliding wardrobe doors and, worst of all, feet clattering on the wood in the bathroom part of the room. Made worse one night by members of a group knocking at the room next door and talking.
Otherwise the hotel and its location was up to 4 star standard (5 min walk to the metro, a one-day ticket, bilhete um dia, combined with en electronic card, costing 3.35 euros and also valid on buses and trams, and a shopping centre in the other direction). The metro is very full even at 9.30 in the morning.
The breakfast was better than average, although I was personally rather disappointed that they did not serve marmelada (quince jam)!
It is a very good hotel, excellent breakfast, good service. A little bit far from the city centre but accessible by metro or cheap taxi. Hotel is clean, with many facilities. The use of the keycards was always problematic, though. The internet could have been wireless and cheaper/free. A little remark: smokers and non-smokers are not separated in the breakfast room, it is not very nice to smell someone else's cigarette while trying to eat...

Booked through ratestogo.com using their last minute deals. I have stayed at Sana Malhoa over 5 times in 2 years. Great staff, very nice rooms, quite an abundant breakfast. Not far from the subway system at Spanish Square. Walking distance from El Corte Ingles mall where you can get everything from excellent ready-to-go food to water, the BEST freshly baked bread, etc (you must try the tapas bar at the Corte Ingles). There is also a subway station underneath the mall. In the same block of the hotel you'll find a small cafe/pastelaria that serves a great lunch for less than 6 euros. Post Office is around the corner and there are 3 ATM machines within 200 m. If you need to exchange currency, just walk down the street to the Millennium Bank. Rates at the hotel are usually excessively high. Across the hotel there is a driveway that takes you to the highway going to the Tajus area, Sintra, Estoril, and Tajus bridge.

Stayed twice at the Sana Malhõa Hotel. We got a special price on the internet and found it great value for money. The rooms were clean and spacious. The beds and the linen were of good quality. The toiletries in the bathroom were first class, the TV sound was piped into the bathroom and the shower rose is a perfect large size. TV channels in most languages with a good sampling of English language.
With the large window closed little noise came in, but you know when the airport is operating because the landing approach is thereabouts. The staff was friendly and helpful. Adequate breakfast was included in the room price, but parking in the Hotel garage costs €10 per day. The location is in a busy business area northwest of the city centre. The metro station Praça de Espanha is a 6/7 minutes boring walk to the back of the hotel entrance through the car park/garage. The train station Sete Rios (access to Sintra) is another 6/7 minutes in the opposite direction. Taxi costs to the airport were €5 off peak.
