I booked this hotel through Expedia as a Flight/Hotel Package. The price was very reasonable.
We got a taxi from the airport to the hotel which cost 16 euros. I would not recommend driving in Lisbon as it is very busy and chaotic on the roads. We saw two accidents just coming from the airport. Check-in at the hotel went very smoothly. They gave us a map and marked on it all the 'must see' areas on it. They also gave us some restaurant cards and said that they would book tables for us whenever we wanted. Our room was on the second floor which was a little disappointing as we would have liked to have had a view. We didn't ask for an upgrade because we've been disappointed in the past and didn't want the embarrassment of them saying NO!!! The room was extremely clean, stylish and spacious. We had a twin room but the beds were touching so were quite cosy (we didn't mind as we are mother and daughter). The freebies in the bathroom are fantastic which travelled home with us!! There are no tea and coffee making facilities in the room but there is a minibar and room service was available if required. We had breakfast on our last morning which was a buffet affair for 12 euros. A bit steep but with the pound being so weak it was expected. The food was very nice (nothing special) and the coffee was lovely. There are plenty of small restaurants/cafes near by that do breakfasts for half the cost.
The Metro Station Saldanha is a 3 minute walk where you can get a travel ticket to get you around the city on metro/bus/tram at about 4 euros a day. Be aware that you will come across a lot (every train) of 'blind/disabled beggars'. I did feel sorry for them and kept giving all my change away but I soon noticed that the locals ignored them so I tried to ignore them too. They are very clever because they seemed to hover next to the tourists rattling their cups, even though they were blind!! There are also a lot of street sellers selling sunglasses and jewelry etc. If you don't want what they are offereing then just say no and walk away. One seller was very insistant with us and 'gave us a bracelet as a gift'. He then talked us out of 5 euros as a gift to him! I know we didn't have to give him any money but he was very insistant and he wasn't very happy with the 5 euros we gave him either!!
All in all our trip to Lisbon was very nice and I recommend it wholeheartedly. I especially recommend a trip to the Zoo (11 euros) where you can get pretty close to the animals (especially the chimpanzees. I wasn't overly impressed with the aquarium but thats probably because I've not long come back from Seaworld in Orlando.
The Zenit is an exceptional hotel and is well worth a visit.
