We can only reiterate the previously positive comments made.
From check-in and being met on the hotel steps by reception staff to check out, we made to feel most welcomed and special.
Our compliments go to the Management for your well trained and efficient staff.
All aspects of the hotel's amenities were excellent. The classic furnishings of the hotel lounges, restaurants and the old manor house were full of character and well kept. The beautifull views overlooking Funchal bay to the mountains from the terrace of a well maintained pool area were stunning, and luscious gardens with tropical trees and flowers from various parts of the world were attentively tended.
Our bedroom was comfortably furnished with fresh towels and toiletries daily in the pleasant bathroom, with constant hot water. The beds were frim to our liking with crisp cool sheets and a 'turndown' each evening.
The table d 'hote and a la carte meals were excellent with efficent waiter service. The a la carte meals can be taken inside or out on the terrace, and while we enjoyed a candle lit dinner al fresco we also enjoyed eating inside the old manor house and felt as if we were in a friend's dining room. We were pleasantly surprised and impressed when somehow the staff discovered that one of us had a birthday during our stay and was presented with a birthday cake and complimentary Madeira wine.
Whilst the peaceful and relaxed location was ideal for us, the hotel's mini bus service was most useful in taking guests down to the Marina. Our one week stay went by all too quickly, but have promised ourselves we will most definately return.

This was our first visit to Madeira and it certainly won't be our last. Quinta da Bela Vista is a lovely hotel with beautifully maintained gardens and the friendliest of staff. The rooms are light and airy, very clean and with personal little touches like a vase filled with the fantastic flowers from the garden. We had a double bed which was huge, this meant that we could both do 'star' shapes and still have room.

Our holiday was a walking holiday and the staff at the hotel were very helpful in arranging taxi's to drop us at the start of a walk and then pick us up again at the end. This meant we were able to to do linear walks rather than just circular ones. It was rather lovely getting chauferred around as we were both too chicken to attempt to drive the roads ourselves.

The hotel is set high on a hill above the lido area and as it is set away from the majority of the hotels and has its own gardens it has a very private club feel. This is the place to stay if you want some peace and calm and a place to relax after a day exploring. It's an easy walk down into Funchal but you need some stamina if you want to walk back up to the hotel.

A really nice touch was that the reception staff always remembered our name and that when it was my husbands birthday they sent a bottle of bubbly and some nibbles to the room.

All in all a fantastic holiday made all the better by a great place to stay.

From the time we arrived and were met on the steps, the service and staff at this hotel could not be faulted. This was our first time in Madeira and we would definitely return and stay at the Quinta da Bela Vista.
We had intended to try a couple of the restaurants in Funchal but the food and service in the beautiful dining room was so good that we ate at the hotel every night. The candle-lit dinner was especially good and the food excellent. From breakfast to an aperitif at the pool bar, all the staff went out of their way to be attentive but unobtrusive.
Tea/coffee-making facilities in the room would have been a bonus as would a small fridge, but these are very minor moans in what was an excellent and thoroughly enjoyable stay.

  • Liked — Comfort and view
  • Disliked — Shower could have been more up to date

We found out about Quinta da Bela Vista from an old friend who had stayed there several times while on business in Madeira.
I'd just recovered from a couple of big surgical operations & wanted to take my wife off somewhere where she would have to not lift a finger for a week, having looked after me for a few months.
The hotel knew nothing of this, so I know we didn't get any special treatment.
Everyone at the hotel was very helpful & discreet, from the reception through to restaurant staff, pool staff & even the gardeners looking after the large cool gardens which had a great view over Funchal.
The courtesy bus down to the harbour proved very useful although taxis arrived quickly and were quite cheap, the taxi drivers often proved a mine of information without being pushy.
The hotel's website is well laid out & informative & we found booking online speedy & easy, emails being answered quickly.
We will definitely be going back.

I work in the travel industry and as such stay in hotels all over the world. The hotel's cuisine was second to none and the charm and character of the "Quinta" made one at ease from the 1st moment. Without a doubt though the staff and their attention to detail made this a truely memorable holiday.
