Just got back home what a relief. Well what can I say!!! Arrived at Porto on time, transfer journey which should have taken half an hour, took an hour and a half ,to arrive at hotel destination.
Had 45 mins from arrival to have welcome chat and dinner, scheduled every day at 7.30pm. Mass dining experience 10 to a table awful, dining room dated and dark, lacked ambience.
Was joined by tour guide at every meal breakfast and evening at what ever table took her fancy, where she talked incessantly and dominated the whole dining room with her loud voice as she got more and more excited.
Too remote, once sun went down nowhere to go nothing to do but go to bed early. Rooms smelt of damp and decay, very dated 1970's brown tiled bathrooms, and dark wood furnishhings throughout, bed very uncomfortable, carpets stained and room dusty and smelly.
Was bitten to hell by mosquitos which the guide failed to tell us about.
Complete ghost town after dark, and very dead atmosphere in and around surrounding area would never return. Overall experience shambolic.
This holiday was mainly couples and all elderly, with just one or two still working. On the plus side trips good to average days out.
