I've been in Athens during March, still winter. Room was great, and staff treated us fine. The rooms are really noise though, since it is not such a nice neighborhood (people using drugs and quite dangerous), and we got a room facing the main street.
To avoid problems walking around, follow the instructions the staff will give you upon arrival, and you will be fine, but unfortunately you can't close your eyes and you see people taking drugs, flighting or stealing. I live in Rio, and believe me Omonoia is dangerous, made me feel safer in Rio! So follow instructions to avoid problems.
Breakfast is good, but once the things are over they don't replace them, what is terrible and they should solve this issue. Another point is that you hear persons in other rooms, since acoustic isolation of the building isn't good.
Overall our stay was good, and the rooms were much better than I expected for the price I've paid.
