The hospitable Greek service was slightly missing as you can expect very little smiles at the front desk and breakfast - rather typical American-style motel service. I had warmer, sweeter service staying at every single place I stayed in Athens, Meteora, Olympia, Arachova, Piraeus and Santorini. Regardless, they functionally served in their duties and helped me secure a taxi on my last day in advance which was very good and the hotel is located in the best location in the Plaka in Athens! Very safe area near a few banks.
If you are here on a quick and easy visit to Athens, pay a little extra and stay here cos the convenience is worth it all, apart from the space in very clean rooms. Not as big as the photos but more spacious than most other motels in the area. Bear in mind, hotels in Greece are all small sized when compared to hotels in Singapore. A little like Hong Kong 3 star hotels but smaller still.
Very nice dining room and breakfast was not bad with ample variety. Don't expect English-quality scrambled eggs that even the Youth Hostels at the Lakes district exceeded in value. It's more American average Red Roof Inn quality.
The greatest disappointment was with the booking direct from the hotel's website. I asked about a month ahead for a view room on an upper floor facing the Acropolis but was given the response that all view rooms were booked and they could only offer a quiet upper floor room on 6th floor. When I checked-in, I tried again and condescendingly, the male front desk clerk with his nose in the air told me they had upgraded me to a Superior room when I had booked Economy so I should be content even if it's not a view room! Since when did I book economy!?!? I asked specifically for a view room on a higher floor and never asked for a cheap room at all! That made me seethe and what was worse was to find out someone traveling from Australia had just booked a week ago got the view room from a 3rd party site after the hotel had told us they were fully booked for view rooms, 2 weeks prior! So can we only get a view room via 3rd parties or was it favouring of countries like the airport on arrival, where the officials called out Europeans to go through customs first, then Americans, then Australians, then others last?
So if you don't mind cold service, this is the best hotel for location and amenities. For true Greek hospitality, look elsewhere.
