“Great View”

Royal Olympic Hotel

This hotel was pretty good. We got off to a rocky start at the Royal Olympic. The staff wasn't as friendly as they had been at other Hotels. We were on our honeymoon and I had all of our documents and reservations. It seemed to me that the man at the front desk wasn't comfortable talking to a woman. He directed all of his questions and the Mr. So after about a 1/2 wait we were taken to our room. It was unsatisfactory. The room faced the pool and the other two sides of the hotel and there were no curtains on the window. The bathroom renos weren't complete and it seemed empty.( not enough furniture) So I told my husband he better call down to front desk and tell them that we weren't happy with the room. They did change our rooms. We ended up with this fantastic room that faced Zeus's Temple. This room had curtains that opened with a button beside the very comfy king size bed. I would recommend this hotel...but always say something if you aren't happy

“OK room, nice staff, bad food”

Royal Olympic Hotel

The location is, as others say, very good. The staff are pleasant and helpful (the bartender at the pool who ordered a 50-ft extension cord so I could recharge my laptop and keep working poolside deserves special thanks). Business travelers may appreciate free unlimited wireless internet in every room (though connection is slow and crashes frequent). And the pool is lovely.

Aside from that, the standard rooms are unremarkable (I changed rooms; both had twin beds and a view of utility facilities). Fluorescent light buzz, a/c and other mechanical noises were loud. Perhaps, because I had a special rate as part of a bloc booking for a conference, I was in a lesser room category; no alternatives or upgrades were offered.

One thing that would not have been different, even in a better room: The food was terrible! Sandwiches served at the pool bar were decent. But the breakfast buffet, though abundant, was made up of mostly of steam table and pastry items that were not fresh or appetizing, and the coffee tasted like badly prepared Nescafe instant. Dinner was almost inedible.

The Royal Olympic is fine for a stopover or as a base of operations, but not recommended for a special experience.

“Great location, not so bad hotel”

Royal Olympic Hotel

My wife and I stayed at this hotel 3 nigths in June in our honeymoon trip.
The best part of this hotel is the location (very close to Plake and Acropolis) and the lobby.

The room we stayed was smelling ciggarte smoke. I would ask the staff to change the room but my wife was so tired that we decided to stay in that room.

The staff is nice, but I they should be more informed about the events in the city. I asked the desk guy if there was any presentation in the theater during the week. He told me that there would be every night along the week....However when I went to the theater to buy the tickets I couldn´t because it was monday and they don´t have presentations on monday....The I would leave on tuesday morning...so I missed the theater....I also mede some other questions about attractions in the city and they didn´t know what to say.....

The breakfast is nice but the service is not as good as it should be in a hotel of this category.

The cleanning woman tryied three times to open the door of our room to give us some candies. The problem is that I had already told her that I didn´t want those candies. So, it let us a little bit angry....

When I decided to go to Athens I would book de Divani Acropolis hotel. But is was full and my travel agent offered me the Royal Olympic.

In my opinion it is a standard hotel in a great location. If you have no other option stay here.

A friend and I stayed at the Royal Olympic Hotel the last of May. It was the perfect location - across from the Temple of Zeus and just blocks from the Plaka. The hotel lobby and pool area are beautiful and the staff very professional. Our room was a very nice typically small European and had a small balcony overlooking the pool.
Even if you don't have a view from your room, you can sit in the bar with a view across the street to the Temple of Zeus. The hotel is within walking distance to the Plaka and the Acropolis. We were pleasantly surprised by the hotel and Athens!

“Excellent location”

The Royal Olypic Hotel is opposite the Temple of Zeus and very near to the Plaka and the Acropolis. I had got a very good deal on the internet and when we first arrived they said they did not have a double room only twin bedded ones. However they soon found one and it was perfect and very modern. The lobby is fantastic and the inclusive breakfast excellent. The pool was not open but looked perfect. The bar prices were ridiculously high. Our whole trip however was perfect.
