We booked this hotel for 3 nights at the begnning of March through lastminute.com and it cost about £63 per night. I am 5 months pregnant so emailed the hotel the week before we went requesting a non smoking room with a bath if possible for my comfort. the hotel responded immediately, upgrading our room to an executive non smoking room with a bath.

We struggled a little to find the hotel but only because the Greek street names are so confusing and we only had a small map. It is about a 3 minute walk from the Victoria station so fine with carrying luggage.

The room was a little small but very clean and comfortable. Very spacious bathroom, mini bar, tv and safe for use within the room. There was free internet within the hotel.

The staff were very accomodating and happy to help recommend restaurants, give directions and keep luggage secure on check out day.

The breakfast was a nice extra. Hot drinks, juice (a little watered down though), fruit, toast machine, cereal, greek yoghurt, boiled eggs, bacon etc.

Overall this hotel was excellent value for money. It is only a 3 star but a very good one. Staff were friendly, breakfast was good, room was always clean although a little small it was all we needed as a base for exploring the city. Some reviews say that the area is not very nice in this part of town. Although there was one street outside that appeared to be where some drug addicts hung out, there are police officers outside the main hotel entrance (there is a police base next door) so I always felt secure walking around outside.

    • Disliked — 20 Minute walk to sites so tiring after a long day. I would still go to this hotel again though.

“A Lovely, Safe Hotel for Families”

Museum Hotel

My husband and I have 3 small children (girls), ages 5,6 and 8.
We visited Athens with our good friends which also have 2 small children aged 4 and 7.
Hotel Museum was the only hotel which would confirm a quad room to my family. Other hotels would only accept a DBL and TPL .
As you can understand, it was our first family getaway, all 5 of us and we wanted to be together as a family.
When we had reserved the hotel, our friends and people we knew, would tell us that the area we chose was very dangerous for us, especially due to the fact that we were 2 families with small children. We were brainwashed and had almost cancelled our reservation. Thankfully we did not.
The area was very safe, with continuous 24hour security. From outside our balcony, we could see on to the street, policemen and security would guard the area. As we were situated opposite a museum there was constant security. We would sometimes walk back to the hotel from omonia metro at 10pm with the kids and we felt very safe.
I have been to omonia many, many years back and it did have a bad reputation, but not anymore. This is what I wanted to stress to people.
The hotel was very friendly, cosy, modern, clean and quiet.
The rooms were lovely, fully equipped and airy.
Breakfast was more than I had expected, delicious and a wide variety.
I would definately stay there again with my family.

“A decent hotel, good at the price - and quiet!”

Stayed here recently on a holiday to Athens and the islands. I've stayed in a few places in Athens in recent years and found that this place was above average for the price.

A mate and I booked a triple for 3 nights for £200; we had a double bed each with a sofa in the spacious room, and a good sized bathroom with modern fixtures.

The room itself was a good size with a small balcony to get some Athens air and warm up after the effects of the air conditioning (which we couldn't work out how to set a temperature on).

Breakfast was standard Athens fare of weird bacon and eggs, bread and pastries - filling but not the best meal of the day.

You're directly over the road from the archaeological musuem, near to Omonia and Victoria metro stations, and an easy15 minutes walk to Plaka, Pysri etc.

I personally like the Omonia area, no different to any working class district in a city, and in contrast to some countries I've never felt at risk in any way when walking the streets day or night.

The biggest difference about this place for me was that as the back of the hotel faces an internal block of buildings and the front is on a side street this is the quietest place I've been in. Particularly good given that the traffic in Athens never stops, and being woken by road sweepers at 4am is never the best holiday experience.

I'd definitely stay here again.

The good reviews here sum it up.

A few points to sharpen, from my experience:
The area is not the most well lit in Athens at night ( but not the least either ) but I felt safe there.

Walking distance to Omonia metro station is 8-12 minutes.
I recommend this station as your base for metro traveling.

One minus to consider: it seems when something runs out in the breakfast buffet, it stays this way. This was disappointing so while breakfast is served between 7-10, I would recommend being there
before 9.

Bottom line: I'll definitely be back in this hotel in any future visit.

We were very comfortable at this hotel for four nights in August. The rate we got was 85€ per night which included a very decent buffet breakfast ( ok the coffee and OJ could have been better: have the apple juice and tea!).
The area was OK; it's true that the side of the museum across the street is seedy with alcoholics and a couple of dealers but just avoid it. Otherwise we quite enjoyed this part of "real" Athens.

It took us about 20 minutes to walk to Syntagma but it's only five minutes by bus. The metro is another option. We found all the staff friendly and helpful.
