This hotel was far better than I had anticipated. First the cons:
1. The general area is a little shady. It's between the National Museum and the Polytechnic University. During the 6 days my fiance and I were there, the students were on strike, and there were a few loitering about the streets outside the hotel. Nothing terribly scary, just a little uncomfortable. Also, the Omonia Square area (a few blocks away) is a very congested and somewhat dirty area.
2. The rooms are small. The "double" bed is literally two twin beds pushed together -- but that's to be expected. The stand-up shower was just large enough to turn around in.
3. The safe in the room is just large enough to fit a few items. Both my fiance and I had laptops that we wanted to lock up, but there were no facilities available for us.
Now, for the pros:
1. Since you're so close to Omonia, it's an easy walk to the metro. It's fast, cheap, and significantly better than dealing with taxis and traffic.
2. The concierge and staff spoke fluent English, and we had absolutely no problems with communication. They gave us advice on public transportation, and even organized a cab for us at 4 am to the airport.
3. Despite what other people wrote, we found the area to be very quiet.
4. There was a lovely balcony with some chairs that allowed for a great breeze during the morning and night.
