My family stayed at the Hotel Zinon for 5 days and we enjoyed our time in Athens. We arrived at about 3am and the staff at the 24-hour service desk were friendly and helpful.
The rooms were clean, including the bathrooms, and we were able to get 2 rooms side by side for my mother to stay near us. They did not have water kettles, but if we needed boiled water, the reception would provide us with our needs regardless of what time it was.
The neighbourhood was not flash, but it was safe enough for us to walk through to get to the hotel. Plus, we had a toddler with us. We minded our own business and the rest of the world minded theirs. As long as you have company and dress appropriately (nothing that screams out too much attention), the area should be fine (although it is probably best to catch a cab back to the hotel if coming back home late after a big night out). That is from our experience only.
The breakfast was pretty standard - plenty of food and enough to keep you going until lunch time. We ate out most of the time or brought take-away back into our rooms if we were too tired to eat out. Dining in Athens is relatively cheap.
The good thing about the hotel is that is it close to Omonia Square (walking distance), and near one of the local department stores. The rooms were cleaned every day and you're never short of fresh towels.
Overall, it was definitely worth value for money and we were happy that the staff were very friendly.
