I spent three nights in this hotel in October. It was ok, but not a very good value for the money. Certainly, upon entering the large, sparkling lobby, I had high hopes, which were instantly dashed upon seeing my somewhat cramped, somewhat dingy room. The room needed some maintence. There were some missing tiles in the bathroom, which one can ignore; however, there was also a very loud, constant and extremely LOUD gurgling sound from the bathroom--from the drain, I think. Even with the bathroom door closed, this sound penetrated the room. The first time I heard it, I thought someone was trying to break into the room. My friend who stayed with me also found this sound extremely irritating, so it wasn't just me. Otherwise, the room was quiet, with no noise from neighboring rooms or traffic (a big consideration in Athens.)
The location of the hotel is pretty good -- close to Omonia and Syntagma, quick walk to the underground.
The best thing about the hotel was the Olive Garden restaurant. The view from the bar is wonderful -- great view of the Acropolis and the city. And the food, while expensive, is excellent. The service was also quite attentive in the restaurant.
The lobby staff were generally helpful if a little aloof. I found no difficulty in communicating with them. The charges for internet use were too high ($10 Euro and hour, if I recall correctly -- I used an internet cafe down the street), and the breakfast was quite varied and good.
All-in-all, an ok hotel, but I'll probably look elsewhere next time I am in Athens.
