“Ok hotel, not worth price”

Titania Hotel

I spent three nights in this hotel in October. It was ok, but not a very good value for the money. Certainly, upon entering the large, sparkling lobby, I had high hopes, which were instantly dashed upon seeing my somewhat cramped, somewhat dingy room. The room needed some maintence. There were some missing tiles in the bathroom, which one can ignore; however, there was also a very loud, constant and extremely LOUD gurgling sound from the bathroom--from the drain, I think. Even with the bathroom door closed, this sound penetrated the room. The first time I heard it, I thought someone was trying to break into the room. My friend who stayed with me also found this sound extremely irritating, so it wasn't just me. Otherwise, the room was quiet, with no noise from neighboring rooms or traffic (a big consideration in Athens.)

The location of the hotel is pretty good -- close to Omonia and Syntagma, quick walk to the underground.

The best thing about the hotel was the Olive Garden restaurant. The view from the bar is wonderful -- great view of the Acropolis and the city. And the food, while expensive, is excellent. The service was also quite attentive in the restaurant.

The lobby staff were generally helpful if a little aloof. I found no difficulty in communicating with them. The charges for internet use were too high ($10 Euro and hour, if I recall correctly -- I used an internet cafe down the street), and the breakfast was quite varied and good.

All-in-all, an ok hotel, but I'll probably look elsewhere next time I am in Athens.

A very well located and convenient modern hotel with a welcoming lobby. Our rooms were lovely with contemporary furnishings and updated bathrooms. Service was excellent with the extra pillows and blanket in our room in less than 2 minutes. We stayed there as part of a tour and the buffets were filled with a decent quality of a wide variety of food with a very attentive staff. Our bags were promptly delivered and retrieved from our room when we departed from the hotel twice, at the beginning of our tour for 2 nights and 1 night at the end of our tour. All in our tour received timely wake up calls and no one had any complaints about anything. The front desk was organized and moved very quickly to check in guests. On the last night our room was a deluxe suite, un unexpected upgrade that pleased us greatly.
If anything was a tad slow, was the elevators that are too small and slow for the volume of traffic, however, this is the case everywhere in Europe, so it was expected.
One incident however, that will remind visitors want to keep their purses and wallets close by. The wife asked the husband to hold her purse while she asked went to get some information. A thief distracted a member of our tour's husband to ask directions, and an accomplice snatched the wife's purse the husband had set down containing over $600 and credit cards. We were warned to be aware and it was easy to be deceived because it is such a vibrant and beautiful entrance on a very busy street. In Athens, as in any big city it is imperative to be aware and on guard for your purse and wallet at all times.

My husbent and I was in athens on june 2007 through a travel agency which indicated us this hotel. It is huge but the rooms are very small and smelly. Although the agency mailed them to give us a room with acropole view, we received a room with a "hotel view" inside of a dark gap like a drew well and everytring you could see was another window of the hotel oneself. The restaurants are good especially the one from the top of the hotel from where you can see finaly the acropole. The hotel location is good. You can reach to the important places from Athens in 15 min The lobby is nice, with piano but smelly...I don't know whay. I hope you can have a better impression. good luck. ana-maria

Titania was a better hotel than I expected. We stayed there 4 nights as part of a Globus package tour.

The location is great, the rooms are good, basic rooms with clean bathrooms, hair dryers and decent enough beds. The hotel staff delivered our bags to our room with no problem, and retrieved them for the bus with no problem.

When I asked to switch to a room with 2 beds instead of 1, they accomodated the request with grace. When we had a small maintenance problem, they had someone in our room within 30 minutes to fix it.

The roof top restaurant bar "Olive Garden" is fabulous - it has a view of the Acropolis that is unmatched and spectacular. Even if you don't stay there, go have a glass of wine and marvel at the view. Take your camera...

Dinner in their restaurant was fine. The breakfast buffet (included with our room) was extensive, and included European breakfast staples like bread, cheese, cold cuts, jams, fruit, etc. and American items like eggs, bacon, etc. Everyone can find something for breakfast.

All in all - I'm not sure if I would book this hotel if I were travelling independently, but don't be dissappointed if you are booked there by a tour company. It was better than I expected, and just fine...

We arrived in Athens on a Saturday morning, and were planning on spending one night in the city prior to taking off for the islands. . . this experience was terrible. When making the reservation, we informed the hotel that we would be arriving at noon, and they assured us that we would have a room available. Once we arrived, we waited in the lobby for 3 hours for a room. Imagine this after getting off of a 12 hour transatlantic flight! I am sure the wait would have been much longer if I had not pestered the front desk every 30 minutes!
Once we got our room we were so disappointed! The room reeked of smoke (even though it was a non-smoking room)! Not only was it smelly, but it was small and looked old.
The last straw was the breakfast buffet. We were told that this was including in our room price. The buffet was not set up in time, so we were not able to enjoy it. To make matters worse, there was a separate charge on our bill for the buffets and they would not remove the charges! So we paid $40 US for no breakfast -- actually for two cups of coffee!
