We had an exceptionally nice stay at the Athens Park hotel and received a good deal The rooms were very nice although the beds were a little hard. The front staff were exceptionally nice and helpful and all spoke English.

The best part of the hotel was the breakfast and the people in the restaurant. The orange juice was fresh squeezed and to die for. The pool was very nice. The only issues we had were some older people who didn't like the boys having any fun in the pool and they were out there every day the boys were. The other thing is that it closed at 6pm. The boys always wanted to cut sightseeing short so they could make the pool.

When leaving the hotel make sure to go out east on Alexandras Ave. If you go west then south on 28 Octobriou you can run into some crummy areas of Athens. Otherwise, there is a nice park across the street and the views of the hill tops around Athens are breathtaking. We actually had a beautiful view of the parthenon from one of our rooms and at night it was a postcard. The upstairs restaurant also has this view. All in all, this was an excellent hotel in Athens. I would love to stay there again.

The Park hotel was a pleasent experience overall. The room was clean, reasonable spacious, nice toiletries, slippers and fluffy bathrobes where provided. Breakfast was of a high standard and is served until 10.30 each. Roof top swimmind pool was beautiful with a nice view of the Acropolis though could have been open later than 6 o'clock. The gym was fine but some equipment did not work. We liked the location of this hotel it was near a metro stop but out of the hustle and bustle of Plaka and Monstarki. There where some nice restaurants around the area for example: The Alexandria up the road.

This hotel was a major disappointment from the start. It is located well away from the Acropolis and the Plaka in an incovenient, ugly and commercial area. The front desk staff were unable to give correct Metro directions to the Acropolis, telling us we did not have to change lines. (There are all of 3 lines in the Metro. ) We did of course have to change lines. I asked for a taxi for dinner and they told us we would have to pay for the taxi to come to the hotel. When I said we would just hail one then; the man at the front desk launched into a dissertation on how everywhere you must pay for a cab to come. We did attempt to hail a cab, but none would stop for over 30 minutes. We later did call for one who came promptly. The rooms despite being reserved 6 months in advance were wrong. We had asked for a three bedded room for our kids, and they basically showed us a closet with no view. Eventually, this was rectified. The worst aspect of this hotel was that none of the staff spokie good English at all. My daughter had left a stuffed animal at the hotel, and despite repeated attempts to get them to send it to a following hotel on our itinerary, as of 4 days later they had still not done so. Amazingly, they would not forward it at all, until we had faxed my credit card number so they could charge me. What great service!!! Eventually, it was brought to the hotel we were staying at near the airport 1 week later. I had called several times complaining why it was not sent in a timely fashion. This is a poor choice of hotels for Americans, particularly those who want service and who do not speak Greek. Location is poor. Service is worse.

“Nice hotel, great roof terrace, not in centre”

Park Hotel

12 Jul 2007

We stayed 2 nights at the Park Hotel. It is a short walk from the main tourist, shopping and restaurant areas and, in the heat, take a taxi to the Acropolis (less than 3 Euros). Hotel is very close to the archeological museum and a nice park.

Plus points were that the hotel staff were very friendly, room clean and well enough appointed. Roof terrace/pool/bar is great with fabulous view of the Acropolis at night. Only problem was that it seemed to be constantly booked for weddings so you could not go up there after 5pm. June is the month for weddings in Greece.

The hotel has recently been modernised but not completely. Our bedroom was very nice but the bathroom reminded me of some of the Soviet Era dumps I have had the misfortune to stay in in Eastern Europe. Fantastic shampoo though!

All in all a good location to explore Athens but a litlle bit outside the centre. Not 5 star, I would say 4.

I stayed there in a semi-professional and semi-pleasure trip in late May.
The experience from the hotel was very good, that extends to all aspects. The room was a fourth floor one on the back of the hotel that is oriented towards the centre of Athens. I had a view towards one of the hills around Athens, but it was a low floor to be able to view the Acropolis. The rest of the view was not special, but this is not a important point I believe! Room size was very good, and the same stands for the bathroom. The room was modern, well appointed and had everthing one would need, including a desk to work and high-speed internet access - when I needed an iron board it arrived immediately, and when I gave a suit for dry-clearning it was ready within a few hours.
The price was €140 including breakfast, which I believe was very competitive for such a hotel.
Hotel staff were courteous and attentive.
I saw some negative comments on breakfast, which surprised me. I was normally arriving late for breakfast, but there was always ample choice and the staff were very happy to bring any kind of coffee you wanted (apart from the standard coffee available) - funny, a couple of times I tried to give them a tip and they refused! I had a lot of trouble making them accept it!
There is a very nice swimming-pool on the roof where one can have drinks and food and from where one has views of the whole Athens. There is also a very good roof-top bar/restaurant with stunning views of Athens and of a park in front of the hotel.
The location is also very good in terms of convenience. There is a metro station about five minutes walk , from where you can go to a number of historic places, including Syntagma Square and the Acropolis. There are quite a few commercial shops very near the Hotel, and one can walk to the centre of Athens (Syntagma square) in about 20-25 minutes.
Just two small matters.
There was a leakage from the shower to the floor bathroom floor, which caused minor annoyance some times.
Breakfast could be served until later. I think it was until 10.30, but 11.00 or 11.30 would have been much more suitable for such a hotel.
