“Disappointing”

We were very disappointed in Amazon hotel. It was our last night in Athens after being in Santorini and wanted to book somewhere central and with easy access to the airport train. It was central and only a two minute walk from Syntagma Square so easy to catch the airport train the next morning. The hotel itself was ok. It looked as though it had recently had a facelift but the lifts were tiny, as was our room. We booked a double Acropolis view room . First impressions were 'is it too late to go somewhere else?'. There was no double bed...instead two of the smallest single beds i've ever seen. My husband and I are small build but still felt like we were balancing to stay on. I'd hate to think of bigger people having to endure a sleep on them! The room was also a sick kind of pink which didn't help. Bathroom was tiny and shower was basically a hole in the floor which caused you to flood the entire 1m squared bathroom each time you turned it on. The view was ok and yes did look to Acropolis but many rundown apartments ruined view for me. plus the door to the deck was locked so it was a bit wasted anyway.
Breakfast was included in our room price but would have rather paid to eat somewhere else. It was a strange little room with no outlook and the selection was poor. Not to mention the deranged music playing. You basically wanted to leave the food on your plate and get out of there as quickly as possible. By the look of the other diners they felt the same way.
Good for proximity to shopping and Acropolis but for the same price I'd recommend the Herodion Hotel about 3 mins away. More modern and much better value for money. You won't be disappointed there and we gave it 5 stars. Check it out.

Decided on the Amazon after checking reviews on TA and was very satisfied. The hotel was small but a perfect base for enjoying the wonderful city of Athens.
Rooms were clean and spacious with an electronic safe, which was handy.
There was so much nearby, shops, restaurants, the Acropolis.
I would definitely stay here again.

At only 5mins walk from Syndagma Square the trip from the airport is so easy!!! We got the metro @ 15e for a 3adult group ticket. 40mins from airport to Syndagma straight through. We got the X95 bus back to the airport from Syndagma - 3.20e per adult and took an hour.

The Amazon is on Mitropoleos - a street with coffee bars, tavernas, restaurants, everything on or around it!! The area is lovely and so central to everything - Plaka, Monastriaki, Akropoli, Syndagma. The Cathedral is a hundred metres or so further down from the hotel.

The hotel itself is very clean and welcoming. We had a triple room and a double room both of which were spacious and comfortable. The same can't be said for the shower room which many have previously mentioned! It is a squeeze but having said that, for a quick freshen up, its adequate. Thankfully the door slides - there's no way in could open inwards!!!

Breakfast was the usual - sausage, omelette, eggs, cheese, ham, breads, jam, fruit and yoghurt with lots of orange drink, tea and coffee. The breakfast room is very light and airy - never felt rushed!

All in all this is a lovely hotel at a very reasonable price in a great location!!! Wouldn't hesitate to stay here again!!!!

Hotel was very clean and comfortable. Right in the city center, only a 15 minute walk to the Acropolis. Lots to do nearby. Only complaint is that sometimes the hallways and the lobby smelled like cigarette smoke, but the rooms didn't. Great deal.

I stayed in this hotel for a long weekend break in November, and got a bargain rate due to low season. I think location is perfect, few meters away the Syntagma square where you can get metro to airport, and also 10 minutes walk from Monastraki, and Plaka areas, and 15-20 min walk from Acropolis. Although it is right in city centre, the road it is on is relatively quite, so no worries about the noise (I stayed in top floor though). Breakfast was basic but ok, the room was clean, and the reception was friendly. I would stay there again if I go back to Athens
