We (two couples) stayed here over the New Year holiday, hoping for a nice break after Christmas with a bit of festivity on New Year's Eve. Not disappointed by either Athens or the hotel. Economy easy to find thanks to the instructions emailed by the hotel at the time of booking. Area more respectable than expected given some previous reviews; hotel almost opposite the rear of City Hall fronting Kotzia Square, where a huge stage was set up for live music on New Year's Eve (finished and all quiet again by 2am), and where the Mayor rang in the New Year marked by a great firework display in the Square. Very nice brasserie just along the road from the hotel (Hell's Kitchen), unfortunately closed in the evenings. Ommonia Square and Monasteraki metro stations both a few minutes walk along the main road, Plaka and other sights conveniently close. Yes, a 'sex cinema' almost opposite, but we never saw any clients, nor any other signs of the sex industry or drug dealing. The hotel was immaculately clean, towels replaced daily, and the staff were without exception friendly and helpful. Two lifts, easy to negotiate corridors with cases. Breakfast fine (cereals, bread, cheese, ham etc) and plenty of it. When we checked out we were offered a taxi booking to the airport, we had already bought metro tickets so the desk clerk gave us train times and advice on avoiding crowds. Extremely good value for money (we booked through an online agency in July, weren't charged anything until checkout). Overall highly recommended.
