“Nice place to rest and bathe”

After a 14 day cruise that had a small hard bed the Residence was a delight. We booked our room directly with the hotel via internet and had no problems. Took awhile to check in however we got there early in the day (10:00 AM) but they stored our luggage (we had a lot) until our room was ready. After long days on our feet touring Athens the jacuzzi was awesome (great for just soaking your feet too). The jacuzzi is build for two as is the shower :) The maid service was excellent. We were disappointed in the roof top pool - it closed at 6:00 PM, we never did make it to the pool in time to enjoy it. All in all it was a great place to stay.

“Fantastic Hotel”

This is a modern hotel situated away from the centre of Athens, but close enough to walk or take the Metro. it is a medium sized hotel furnished in a modern style with the guests comfortable appearing to be a prime concern. The staff are friendly and welcoming. The meals were had in the hotel were excellent and not too expensive. The rooms are adequately sized, but the bathroom is a highlight! Book a deluxe room and enjoy a bathroom from heaven! The hotel has a nice pool on the roof where dinner is served in the summer. The views of Athens are excellent. The choice of television channels will satisfy most people and there is a good business centre.

This was our first holiday in Greece and this hotel made the experience unforgetable..

“Nicest Hotel in Athens”

This is the nicest hotel in Athens. We got a great rate of 99 Euro a night and friends were staying a few blocks away at the Hotel Alexandros for 3 times as much and thought our hotel was a lot better. The rooms are amazing- we had a jacuzzi tub and shower with 7 or 8 shower heads, washing you from all angles. The room was super modern (we couldn't figure out how to flush the toilet or turn on the light for about 15 seconds) and it was super clean. I will definitely stay at this hotel again. It's centrally located, but a bit hard to find (even with a map).
I wish the hotels we stayed at all over Europe (which we paid 2 to 3 times as much for) were as nice as this.
Stay here! It's perfect!

We had a wonderful stay at this hotel for 7 nights. The staff are very friendly and courteous. The rooms have extremely comfortable beds that are difficult to abandon. Three layers of curtains ensure that the light is completely blocked out and despite beng in a central location the rooms are sound proofed. The deluxe rooms have a splendid jacuzzi which is great to soak in after a hard days sightseeing. The hotel is a five minute walk from the metro and taxies are available all the time. Convinience shops, small restaurants and main shopping hub are close to the hotel.

Would recommend this to everyone.

“Spotlessly clean, superb pool”

Melia Athens

We stayed at the Residence Georgio for a week in May/June 2007 and had a wonderful time. The hotel is spotlessly clean and our deluxe room was well proportioned and quiet. The roof top pool is simply lovely and, although some of the nearby rooftops could be prettier, offers good views of the city and Acropolis. (A fashion Magazine were sizing it up for a photo-shoot whilst we were there). All the major attractions are within a 20-30 minute walk (the Archaeological Museum is about two minutes away). Although we didn’t use them there are plenty of buses that run past the Hotel and the terminus for longer distances is just past the Museum. Metro sations are also within a short walk. Breakfast is served buffet style, being plentiful, hot and of good quality. The photos already posted are representative of what we found.

Poolside snacks are substantial and given the stunning location represent good value for money. The same can’t be said for the Hotel Restaurant ‘Café Mundo’ which offers overpriced and mediocre food and here is the main drawback of the hotel. If you are happy eating in bars or cafes you are spoilt for choice, if you want a restaurant near to the hotel there is only one option, the Petrovia; just past the main bus stops (about two minutes walk). Here you can get a good quality meal for a reasonable price- there really is no excuse for eating in the Hotel.

Like any big city Athens has its seedy side and although we always felt safe on the main roads, some of the side streets near to the Hotel are best avoided after dark (Just like in NY or London so don’t get too hung up on this aspect of our review).

One final word of warning, the guest book was full of recent comments that the pool hadn’t been open. All we can say is that is was when we arrived and it made our holiday. The Greek tourist season however runs from around June to September. If you are staying outside that period and want the pool it’s probably best to e-mail the Hotel and get confirmation that it is open.

So did we have a good time- yes; would we use the Hotel again, quite probably but we’d hope for a greater availability of restaurants nearby or a much improved and more realistically priced option in the hotel.
