We had a standard apartment for two nights (Room 303). It was a reasonable size, with a small kitchenette and free tea & coffee making facilities. The room had a tiny balcony, and overlooked the rear courtyard, so it was quiet. Room was clean, and they provided disposable slippers, and a mending kit in addition to the usual bathroom toiletries. Hairdryer in bathroom and another in room. An iron and ironing board supplied on request. TV had CNN, BBC, and local channels. Minibar prices were reasonable, but in any case there is a kiosk very close by if you want to save a few dollars. Laundry service available Monday to Friday. Typical charge 6 euros for a blouse, 2 euros for undies or socks. Useful information in room about local restaurants. (We tried Byzantino and Skholiarhio. Byzantino is mentioned in many guidebooks, but we thought it was pretty ordinary, and quite rushed. Preferred Skholiarhio which is a little away from the Plaza frenzy. They bring trays of mezedhes and you choose the dishes you would like. Very cheap. We paid 24 euros for a pleasant meal, including house wine and bottled water.)
Breakfast at AVA had a good selection, and we particularly liked the fact that you could squeeze your own orange juice. Free internet access in lobby. Staff were friendly and very attentive.
Location is excellent, you are very close to the exciement of the Plaka, but in a quiet street away from the tourist shops and touts. Not far from a subway stop either.
We would definitely stay here again. Maybe next time we would spring for the room with a view.
