We only stayed one night, so it was good enough for that. But the bathrooms weren't up to standard and i probably wouldn't shower there. On the plus side, the location is awesome! Right by the acropolis and trendy Athens dining. I say one night okay, but any more might scare you away!

I agree with the other reviewers in general. The location is absolutely ideal and the price reasonable. The hotel's street is lined with trendy bars and restaurants - good to take a stroll down after the archaeological sites, shops, and museums close. Shortly after exiting the hotel, which sits on a hill, you are greeted with a wonderful view directly on the Acropolis.

If you are at all a light sleeper, try to avoid rooms facing the street, as nightlife is quite boisterous and loud pedestrians roam the streets until 3am on a typical night. We had to change rooms after the first night. Room deco is very hit or miss. Our first room was very gaudy, but our second one had been updated, and I found it to be tasteful. Breakfast is nothing special, and the "orange juice" was a bit odd, more like Koolaid with extra water.

We were overall very happy with our room though. Hotel staff were very friendly. We considered location to be one of the most important criteria when staying in Athens, and in retrospect, we are glad that we did.

I have stayed at this hotel more than 6 times over the last year during educational or professional trips to Athens.

The hotel is in a Great Location, a few minutes walk from the metro station of Thision, close to the coffee shops at St Pauls Street and the taverns of Monastiraki. The region feels safe though in the centre of Athens.

It is easy to reach the hotel from the airport and the port of Pireus using the metro.

The hotel itself is clean, the beds are made daily and the rooms are also cleaned daily. Breakfast is available in the hotel but you can also choose to eat your breakfast in one of the many coffee shops close by.

The rooms are comfortable especially those on the third floor with a view to the Acropolis. The only slight problem is that the bathrooms need a renovation but nothing you cant ignore for a few days stay. Avoid room 201 if you can.

On the whole a very good hotel, friendly staff and great location.

At the suggestion of our friend, we (Americans ages 60 & 64) stayed there for three nights at the end of Oct. '06. The room was clean and quite adequate for our needs. Nothing fancy. We're the type that only uses the room to sleep, so a clean comfortable bed with a firm mattress does just fine.
This hotel owner was just as hospitable as he could be. He spoke enough English to help us out with dinner suggestions and even called ahead for us at 6am to find out if our ferry would sail that morning.
The convenient location on a pedestrian walk is in a bright, safe area very close to tons of restaurants, cafes, the metro, and the Acropolis.
Good value.

The Phidias hotel is a small hotel with a very good location, the apostolou pavlou. Allthough at night the dogs on the street can make a lot of noise. The rooms are very small and the bathroom even smaller, so I don't recommend this hotel for a long stay. Since the hotel has a website of its own, the rates have become more expensive, maybe a bit to expensive for this kind of hotel.
