My daughter & I only had 2 days in Athens. The location of the hotel enabled us to walk everywhere or take the metro from the Syngrou Fix station about a block down the street. Even at night we felt very safe in the area. The room was comfortable and roomy for a European hotel. High ceilings, nice decor and marble bathroom. The staff was helpful with directions & suggestions for shopping and restaurants. The self-serve buffet breakfast was basic but fine; we enjoyed the fresh sqeezed OJ.

“Laid back and Lovely”

Acropolis Museum Boutique Hotel

16 May 2008

There's nothing particularly amazing about this hotel but that is part of its charm. It's comfortable, attractive and being a little away from the main tourist centres you can actually meet some real Greek people in the surrounding area. The staff are charming and most helpful without being pushy. The only thing which lets it down is the breakfast, but then that is not a feature of Greek cuisine even in higher class establishments, though it was a disappointment not to be able to have my usual "metrio" of a morning to set me up for the day!! That said, it's only 10 mins walk from Plaka where you are spoiled for choice.

The hotel website says that Akropoli metro is the closest but it is about mid-way between Akropoli and Syggrou-Fix, with the latter I think being marginally closer. Not much in it really. There are also lots of places to eat on the road going up from Syggrou-Fix metro station; some are rather unprepossessing "fast food" (not my taste) but I found a really nice more traditional taverna which was well patronised by locals - always a promising sign in my book. I certainly had a tasty and cheap meal there one evening and enjoyed the buzz of watching the local life of the street.

Some reviewers have found the hotel noisy and it is certainly on the busy Athens - Piraueus route but I didn't notice any noise as there is good double glazing. It feels like a pretty safe area - though Athens in general is pretty safe anyway. Due to a metro strike I had to walk back on my own very late at night from a rebetika bar near Monastiraki and though I lost myself in the lanes around the edge of Plaka, I didn't feel threatened at any point.

I booked a deluxe room and it certainly was - very spacious with good quality furniture, small but perfectly formed bathroom and plenty of fluffy white towels and a bathrobe. My huge double bed was extremely comfortable and for once, had really good supportive pillows - a must for me as I suffer with neck and back problems. I would certainly recommend it for those who don't want to be in the middle of tourist traps and who like a little more originality in decor and presentation than can be found in the usual chain hotels.

The rooms were very nice, and the location of the hotel is fantastic, very close to Plaka and the Acropolis. The breakfast was very good too. Perfect place to stay to explore Athens!

Excellent, A very nice hotel. The room was excellent, except for the noise of the traffic as we had a front room. The staff were friendly although not over helpful. My main gripe about this hotel was its breakfast; it left a lot to be desired.

The hotel was about 5 mins walk from Acropoli Metro station and about 2 mins more from the Acropolis itself! Great location. On a busy main road but hey, it is central Athens so what do you expect? If you want a central location....
The room was air conditioned so no need to have the windows open anyway.
Our room was lovely! Simply but beautifully furnished, very classy. I seem to remember paying a bit more for the 'Deluxe' room and got the one that is shown in most of the photos you will see of this hotel. Quite what was any more 'deleuxe' than any of the other rooms I don't know, maybe it was a little bigger, oh and it did have a duel aspect which made it nice and light. It really was a lovely room. No bath though!
The TV has no English channels at all but then again, your'e not in England so again....what do you expect!? Who want's to watch TV anyway when your in a city like this!?
Breakfast was 'OK'....hardly gourmet but filled a gap. Oh, and it should be noted that, as the hotel is small, it doen't serve dinner.
The staff were very friendly and helpful too.

All, in all, considering how much we paid for central Athens (about £260 for 3 nights I think), it was great, I'd definitely reccommend it. Although it probably gets MUCH more expensive in high season. Still, a very nice hotel.
