We went to Varoulko several weeks ago during a three day pre-cruise visit to Athens. this restaurant has a Michelin star and we were expecting a great meal. Although the setting @ night on the terrace with the sunset behind you and then the lights of the Acropolis to accompany your meal is quite beautiful our experience was that the meal and service did not live up to the hype. They had a nice sized menu but the waitress tried to convince us to order the chef's tasting menu but we did not like the menu. When we told her we wanted to order off the regular menu they ultimately seemed to be out of everything we wanted. My salad was funny tasting and overdressed and the pricey fish entrees arrived tepid and only so-so tasting. We were continually asking for more bread and olive oil which was frustrating. We had better meals walking in off the street while in Athens.
