“Absolutely awful staff”

I've waited 18 months since our honeymoon before writing about the St Nicolas Bay Hotel and Resort. It is undoubtedly a beautiful place and the spa facilities were excellent. We've stayed in numerous top quality hotels in many parts of the world. This establishment, however, has by far the rudest, most condescending staff with attitude problems that we have ever encountered.
When someone asked at the bar one lunchtime for a sandwish, whe was told "We don't do sandwiches". She asked to see the manager. A row ensued and in the end he had her brought some bread and cheese and said "Make your own."
Everything is a bother to these people. They do not pamper their guests, if anything they avoid serving them.
Recently I met a friend who is a travel agent. After many years in the business of referring others to this high quality resort, she eventually got to stay herself. Although the manager knew the reputable company for whom she worked, she observed an unbelievable degree of deliberate and intentional rudeness on the part of staff. She now says she will not recomment that anyone else go there.
All so very sad, for this is a beautiful place ...
My new wife and I had a wonderful time, but no thanks to the staff of our not inexpensive resort.

chose to stay at the St nikolaos Bay after much searching on the web and advice from friends who have been to the area.
chose July for some nice hot weather and arrived at the begining of a heatwave! Very warm 45c+ but just kept telling myself it was better than working!
really enjoyed our stay, room was fine, very well kept and had a lovely view across the pool area and out to sea, room was air conditioned which really helped and we coincided with the Wimbledon tennis so the Sat TV was a bonus.
lovely grounds which we enjoyed strolling round a couple of times a day to escape the heat, lovely private beach area and sun beds on the rocks, which were well patrolled by the cafe staff, all of whom were great.
Good food at the hotel generally, dissapointed with the a la carte restaurant, which we didn't think was great, the Tavern was good, the staff seemed a little under trained but i was on holiday and wasn't that bothered. fresh fish daily cooked to your liking under starry skies, big part of holidays in my view!
Good breakfasts, the guy who cooked all the eggs was a particularly nice fella and the staff were very pleasant, again if a little amateur.
The heat was noticably uncomfortable for some so maybe a few complimentry bottles of water would have been a good idea, at 4 euros a pop, staying alive became a bit expensive! (shop up the road a much cheaper option)
taxi's down to he town area were prompt, reccommend Migomis restaurant like everyone else and also the restaurant opposite which was certainly not a glamorous spot, but we had our best meals in there. (fresh fish and very reasonable)
One moan was that the sea water pool's filter system packed up a few times and always seemed to take an age to fix, this involved draining the pool to a certain level which made it a bit pond like, not nice while melting in the shade.
Enjoyed the cocktail bar and the excellent cocktail waiter, spent a few nights up there in a vain attempt to try every cocktail.
fellow gusts were all very pleasant, met a lovely couple from the Isle of Man who gave us the heads up on many things.
Overall i would reccommend SNB for all, we chose to do very little (again) and were never bored.
Sneaky hint - use the pool round the front of the hotel, no one was ever there everytime we went round there so had the place to ourselves!

“Definitely Not Five Star”

Saint Nicolas Bay Resort Hotel & Villas

We are two female friends who booked a twin room with a sea view. When we arrived late in the evening we were given a room with a double bed and a view of the town at one side and a tiny glimpse of sea at the other. The hotel could not move us that night and the receptionist kept insisting that we had been given what we had booked. The next day we were kept waiting for some time by the manager who was 'in a meeting' before he oozed up and offered us another room. We eventually moved at midday and, after a sleepless night, were exhausted and very unimpressed by the way we were treated. We feel that we lost almost a whole day of our holiday after having to fight for what we had booked. The rest of the staff were delightful and very helpful but the management are not to keen on guests at all.

“Very enjoyable holiday”

Spent a week at hotel at end of September. Overall very enjoyable, helped by perfect weather. Superb location overlooking bay and mountains. Uncrowded, plenty of space and sunbeds so no worries about Germans and their towels. Splash out and take a junior suite with private pool. Do not prebook half board, no advantage in doing so, pay as you go. Dinner buffet is only average and you only receive credit of 18 euros if you eat in the a la carte restaurants. Also worth eating in Aghios occasionally, only 25 minutes walk or 5 euros by taxi. Hire a car for 4/5 days to see the coast and mountains. Friendly and helpful staff. Some small failings; bottle of wine in room but no corkscrew; candles but no matches; no drinking glasses or face-cloths in bathroom; no shower curtain around bath;no questionnaire at end of stay. Wish hotel would read these reviews and take action, as many of these points have been made in previous reviews.

Having booked to stay her efollowing a little research and as the hotel was a member of the SLHOW, I was expecting good things. We were so disappointed when we arrived that I ccancelled and left the next day.

The room was not what we expected for a suite.Very small, poorly appointed, the outisde area had barey enough space to sit, and was also covered. Parts of the room were broken, (door handles, bath equipment etc)

Trying to rectify the situation was not very easy, and not coming to any satisfactory conclusion, I cancelled and left.

In addition, whilst some members of staff were wonderful, it depended on who served you, some attitudes were terrible, no smile and poor service. (It was the terrible breakfast service on the first morning that finally made up my mind to go). I could cotninue to write a whole list of complaints - but you get the picture

other than the watersports I can not think of any reason to stay here.
