We just spent five nights at the Alantha Apartments in Agios Nikolaos and were very pleased with our choice. Linda at reception and Antonis the manager were both extremely helpful. Linda is a wonderfully cheerful sort and went out of her way to make us comfortable; she also gave us great dinner recommendations. Chloe is Antonis’ 2 year old pug. She’s very friendly and always came to say hi as we passed by.
The hotel is clean and modern and the rooms are very spacious. We were in room 402 and had a nice partial sea view from our balcony. There was a second balcony off our bedroom, which gave us a nice breeze through the apartment. The kitchen was nicely equipped and the bathroom was excellent – great shower. The pool area was lovely with a magnificent view. Service at the pool bar was good. The hotel is good value and in a perfect location to walk to everything.
Agios Nikolaos is a beautiful town. We took side trips by car along the north coast to Sitia then along the south coast to Ierapetra as well as north to Elounda. The scenery is absolutely spectacular. The restaurants and tavernas in town are excellent. Our favourites were ‘Ofou to lo’ and Trata both near Kitroplatia beach.
We highly recommend Alantha Apartments and Agios Nikolaos for a great vacation!

We stayed at the Alantha Apartments in June.

The apartments are in a very good location. Close to all of the restaurants and shops and sits on a quiet side street.

The hotel staff were very friendly and helpful but we were not very pleased with the actual room.

The room was very basic and plain. The bathroom had a window in the shower that had no curtain and was in direct view of other apartments across from us. You really had to watch how you showered or you would be seen by your fellow guests.

The beds were very uncomfortable. Every time you moved, the beds squeaked like there were going to fall apart. The TV in the room was so small, you felt us though you should use binoculars to see the screen.

You could hear other guests TV’s in our room and clearly hear their conversations through the walls. Every time the guests above us used the toilet, you could hear it flush like they were in the bedroom with you, and it sounded like water was falling on your head. We really expected more from this property after reading the reviews.

In summary, the apartments are in a good location and the staff were very friendly. The accommodations however were lacking, and not very comfortable.

This is a fabulous hotel in a wonderful location- the perfect base for any holiday!
We stayed in the cheapest room available (ground floor studio) and were thrilled with it. It was spacious, bright and clean with all necessary amenities and a lovely bathroom complete with white suite and all!
The location is so close to the town and there are such a variety of restaurants within easy walking distance. our favourite was the "mediterranian restaurant" which was on the other side of the harbour from alatha (near from where the boats leave for spinalonga) and on the top floor. It had beautiful views and a gorgeous menu offering more sophisticated and tasty food than elsewhere.They do the best desert in the world...you MUST try the marscapone mouse!
The one complaint we have about alantha apartments was the awful service at the pool bar. Whilst the other staff were wonderful and thoroughly helpful (especially Linda), watch out for Jane/Janet by the pool. She literally shouted at two guests who asked for breakfast after half ten and is breathtakingly rude. She will not bring the food to you and insists on you taking the dirty plates back to her. You may as well eat in your own kitchen! Plus her dog Chloe freaks out if you take a picture of it (although I don't know why you would want to) so tread carefully!
Other than this, the apartments are absolutely outstanding, and agios nikolaos a wonderful place to stay.

Just got back from our hols and stayed at the Alantha. We were really impressed with the apartment. We stayed in a studio on the 3rd floor and the room was really good. Very clean and very modern for greece. The shower was probably the best I have had when staying in greece with hot water at all times.

There is a roof top pool which is nice with really good view. The downside is that the pool is cold. There is also a pool bar which shuts at 6 or 7. Another downside is there is no other bar in the apartments that is open later.

The resort itself is very nice. The lake and the harbour is nice with lots of restaurants and bars again the downside is the people that hassle you to go into their restaurant or bar.

The walk to the lake from the apartment is only about 8 mins but lots of steps on the way back!!

We found a couple of nice restaurants. The 1st is La casa which is on the lake. we went here 3 times as the food was great and we had excellent service. The other is La strada which is just up from La casa. Again great food and great service.

All in all a good holiday.
