Got the hotel thru booking.com for 100 euros per night. (10 euros cheaper than booking direct through the hotel). We then contacted the hotel for details (asking for sea view etc) and they happily accomodated us.

The hotel was fantastic. We asked in advance for a sea view room and they even gave us a complimentary bottle of champagne and fruit because it was our honeymoon!

The room was on the small side but we had a balcony with two chairs and a table which overlooked the old harbor and the sea. It was fantastic, the sunset was gorgeous to watch from up there and we could also watch the people below.

Below the hotel there are a few restaurants where you can sit right on the harbor and eat and we were able to go eat there a couple of times. We were right on the edge of the 'action' but at the same time were only a 5 minute walk from the main downtown, which had a lot of nice shops and winding streets and was very pleasant to walk around in.

The hotel had a computer in the downstairs bar that could be used for internet at quite a reasonable price.

The bus station for busses that take you out to other towns was about a 20 minute walk and the hotel gave us excellent directions.

There is also a free parking lot right behind the hotel which always had space and was great for parking our car when we rented one.

I was hesitant about getting a "best western" because I wanted something "greek" but this really felt more like a charming greek hotel than a "boring" US hotel.

It was perfect, I would definitely recommend this to anyone. And I loved Chania, staying there was the highlight of our trip (we went Athens-Chania-Heraklion-Santorini).

I stay at Porto Veneziano hotel every month for business purposes. Its not a 5 star hotel with pool, spa etc but the perfect hotel for visiting the wonderful old town of Chania. The location is just perfect, the staff the friendliest I have ever seen and the rooms rather simple but clean and especially the front ones with an astonishing view of the old harbour. Porto Veneziano is the best hotel at the old town of Chania.

The staff was very friendly upon arrival. The room was very basic like a Best Western but we paid extra for an Ocean View suite and it was worth the extra space. Being along the ocean was so peaceful, the only thing that I was bothered by were the horse & buggy sounds that would come by in the morning.

Since it was our honeymoon, as we got to our room the bellman had a welcome tray with fruit and champagne which was very thoughtful.

Along with the beautiful view the breakfast fruit was some of the best I've ever had. It is a short walk from the main village which didn't bother us since it was quieter and we were able to walk off our dinner as well as explore the fort.

The website shows the hotel in a poor way, but upon arriving, it is in the cutest most charming area of Chania, and of Crete, in my opinion. The staff is kind and helpful, but not annoying in any way. They are great with giving directions to guests who do not speak or read Greek, and we had no trouble navigating the area by car with their directions and recommendations. We haven't tried the food but the coffee is great, and the rooms are comfortable with nice views and balconies. Wireless internet which is fast and easy to log in to.

We love it and if ever in the area again we would stay here. It is affordable and on a street of little sweet restaurants with AMAZING fresh fish and sweet, trustworthy people.

We stayed here the first 3 nights of our vacation in Greece and it was a nice place to make the transition. This hotel is located on the quieter side of the harbor. Our balcony provided a nice place to relax, enjoy the breeze, and look over the harbor and street activity. It is an easy walk to the rest of the old town and numerous restaurants. Customer service was great. The staff spoke English, provided an early breakfast since we had an early bus trip to the gorge, called taxis, sold stamps, and laundry prices were reasonable for a hotel. The hotel provides a big breakfast buffet with fresh orange juice. The room itself was a bit small and drab, but clean. The beds were hard like most hotels in Greece. You could get English news on the TV. While the hotel is in a quiet area of the harbor, there was a fair amount of background noise (elevators, doors, etc) from the hotel itself.
