My wife and I stayed at Samaria for three days in May and had the best hotel experience (out of 8 hotels total) during our time in Greece. We arrived in Hania a day early from Athens and although the Samaria was booked, they made accommodations for us a hotel 400 feet down the road for our first night. The staff was incredibly friendly and knew our names despite shift changes. Kate, the reservations manager, was outstanding and very professional.

We arranged a tour of the Samaria Gorge (highly recommend) through the hotel and they packed us huge bag lunches to take during the hike the next day.

The hotel is located behind the main bus station for Hania and is a 15 min. walk from the Old Venetian Harbor and also the central market. The rate included the largest breakfast buffet we had during our stay in Greece. The bar/restaurant area is very nice and upscale for a hotel of this price. The bartender also provided exceptional service.

The room decor was a bit older, but very clean and had an enclosed shower/tub. All Internet pictures of this hotel are misleading - the hotel and rooms look much, much better in person.

We would definitely stay at Samaria again!! Can't speak highly enough about this hotel/staff after not so pleasant experiences in other Greek hotels. OUTSTANDING!

With its location right next to the main bus station, you might be put off by the Samaria. However, its really quiet, the rooms are clean and adequate, the bar and breakfast nice,the downtown location convenient. My only complaint was that we could not hook-up to e-mail via their phones, even with all the right connectors.
