We have just returned from our honeymoon in Panorama Hotel, Crete. We bought it as a 5*, but it hardly deserves 4.
The room was ok, no frills tough. The pool magnificent. Reception and main restaurant service very nice. And that would be all.
Poor food - starting from very basic breakfast ( small choice, no fresh juices, hardly any nice fruit that you would expect from mediterranian country, no omlettes...), dinners did not vary from one week to another. Especially disappointing Executive Chef's Special -> frozen finger foods seemd like remainings of previous day's conference.
Complaints dealt in a very bad manner (once we complained about food being raw - manager told us not to eat it... no comment).
There's a nice beach 10 minutes walking from the hotel with free beds and umbrellas (there's a need to cross a very busy road 3 times, tough).
The prices in the pool bar and the restaurant were 5 * indeed, but not meaning quality of it.
We enjoyed our time, but that's only because of our good spirits.
Do not recommend it, as it's not a good value for money.

We stayed in the Panorama Blue and had a pool room. Prior to going we had been concerned by some reviews we had read concerning traffic noise but were pleasantly surprised to find this was not a problem. You can hear the traffic but it certainly does not detract from your peace and quiet.

The food was good, we stayed half board, and there was always plenty to choose from.

The staff were always friendly and helpful. The barman recommended a couple of local restaurants in Platanias which we tried and they were excellent.

We went on a trip to the ruins in Heraklion and wished we hadn't bothered. A long trip, 3 hours each way, and not much to see when you get there. Seen one ruin you've seen them all!

We stayed for 2 weeks and will be going back sometime. We really enjoyed the hotel but accept that it would not suit everyone.

My stay here was enjoyable, the staff were friendly ,helpful and polite, food was good,as accomodation, not 5* but I've no complaints, the pool, was excellent, hotel located approximatley 20 minute bus ride from chinia (hania) for around 1.30euro's,
the bus stops right outside the hotel!, Located in a quite setting ,no good beachs near by but can be found if your prepared to walk for 15 mins or so, but I would describe them as mediocre
(been spoilt by maldives & australian beaches! )

for the second year running we have stayed in the panorama blue(an executive wing of the hotel). the room was one with a shared pool and was absolutely fantastic.great views from the bar and dining areas. superb food and the most wonderful staff. will most definately return.
