Reading the reviews of some other people who have stayed at Hotel Kriti, I would like to give you my opinion and experience.

Me and my husband visited Chania recently, our first trip to this lovely island. We had found the hotel on internet ([--]), and got intouch with the hotel directly for our reservation.
We got warmly welcomed at our arrival, and generaly during our stay there, we did not have complaints about the hotelstaff. They were indeed very friendly and helpful, something we appreciated very much.
We had room no. 208 on the front side of the hotel, with a lovely view over the sea and the town, we could sit for hours on our balcony just enjoying the athmosphere.
The location of the hotel is just excellent, you are in a walking distance to everything, the old harbour, the town centre and the sea. During our stay we also frequently used the swimmingpool, on the back side of the hotel, clean and very friendly.
The breakfast is one of the best buffet styled once I ever tried, it is comparable with a four or even a five star hotel breakfast.
We warmly recommend this hotel, and has already booked in for our stay there for next year.
This should be a four star hotel, and not a three star..........

We stayed at Kriti hotel for 3 nights as part of our 10 day honeymoon in Aug of 2006. The hotel is at a great location if you are looking to stay in the city of Chania (about 10minutes walking distance from the Venetian harbour). The city itself was beautiful, very romantic, shopping was excellent and the food was great!! The hotel though not so great. The staff initially ignored us, then the mattresses must of been there since the 1940's because we were both in pain the next day! Our room faced the back part of the hotel, so we had a view to a parking lot and a stadium. The bathrooms were ancient, especially the curtains (it was really hard keeping the water inside)! And it smelled like sewer. The breakfast was ok, it was fresh and adequate. Overall we will not stay there again, for the price of the hotel I expected more.

We stayed at the Kriti for 3 nights in July 2006. While the rooms were fine )we didn't experience any problems with noise although we were stuck on the back side of the hotel), we found the hotel staff to be very unfriendly and not very helpful. We had questions regarding the best (legal) places to park our rental car, when the meters were operational (the instructions were in Greek) and information about tours. The staff was unable to answer any of our questions and they were completely clueless about parking, meters etc. The location of the hotel was fine, close to bars and clubs and the shore. Great if you are looking to get into the Greek nightlife. If I did it again, I would probably look for a hotel closer to the Venetian Harbor area. Better restaurants and shopping in that area. I wouln't book at the Kriti again.

Friendly staff & breakfasts were good. The room was unexceptional but adequate. The main problem we had was a room at the corner of the hotel, at the junction of two minor roads, nights were disturbed by motor bikes and car hi-fi systems, which frequently caused our patio windows to vibrate. Cheap & cheerful. Distance from town seems over-optimistic.

“Good city hotel”

We stayed in the hotel one night only and maybe we were just lucky but we haven't noticed any outstanding noice inside or outside.
The hotel is located on the side street leading to the sea, thus traffic is less then on the central streets of Chania.
The staff is polite and helpful.
The food is normal, no special items, but plain and good.
In any case in 5 minutes walk you are at the seashore with a great number of good restaurants and cafes.
Thrully speaking we haven't noticed any beach in the nearby (mentioned in the description) but maybe we were not looking well :)))
But instead we visited the waterpark of Chania which was graet - as compared with other places, very few people, so you don't need to stay in que half an hour, may be because you can get there only by taxi.
