“Wonderful family resort!”

Sirios Village

This place is a true gem! We booked through a last-minute website after checking out early from a disappointing place in Matala. The category was four stars but the standard was really high: magnificent two-bedrrom apt, large swimming pool area, giant lobby and beautiful gardens. Classy playground. We had half-board and the food was marvellous! Large buffet-style breakfast and dinner with everything you could ask for. Staff were tolerant and friendly towards our young children. Location is good if you self-cater: walking distance to large supermarkets and to Chania bus. We will definitely return!!

“Nice family resort, good value”

Very nice resort in Kato Daratso near Chania. Lovely pool area, nice clean apartments. Do not eat at the buffet! The food was not good. Recommend to go to the restaurant by the pool, very good food and service...strange really, because it's the hotel that runs this restaurant as well. The prices was also very affordable...

Did not like the road down to the beach....had to cross a highly trafficated road and it was a very step road down to the beach.

“Absolutely loved it”

Sirios Village

Recently stayed at the Sirios Village for 11 days half board with my friend. The hotel room was great, good storage facilities, comfortable beds, air conditioning and, as was the whole complex, fresh and spotless.

Food was very good, not haute cuisine but mostly fresh and well cooked, a good selection to choose from for both breakfast and dinner some days/nights were better than others but we could always find something nice to eat and there was always a selection of lovely fresh breads and salads. Just don't leave your plate unattended if there's anything you want to finish as it'll get whipped away!

We did have an initial contretemps with the breakfast staff (we had checked in after midnight because of our flight times and the computer made that our first day so they wanted us to pay for breakfast) I knew it would get sorted out but the woman's attitude got my back up as she wasn't prepared to let me finish my coffee before going to get my accommodation voucher to sort the matter. However, the staff were mostly lovely and very helpful.

The closest beach was about 5-10 mins walk through a side entrance to the hotel and was absolutely superb, lovely and sandy it was huge and it was always possible to find a quiet spot and the water was glorious.

We were really just looking for a relaxing break, and we got it, so we weren't really interested in any entertainment etc in the hotel or even the resort, we did take the bus into Platinias a few times, which itself is very busy but for anyone who likes rock music a visit (or two) to the Rock House bar is a must :-)

Would definitely return.

Have just returned from a week here with our 2 young children. Originally booked a 2-room apartment which was disappointing and I would agree with a previous reviewer that the standard was more like 2 star. However, we upgraded to a luxury 2-room suite. This was wonderful and well worth the extra money. It had a large private patio and plunge pool; 2 large bedrooms and 2 bathrooms and was of 4-star standard.
Public pool area was great - plenty of space and plenty of sun-beds whatever time of day you turned up (unlike the experience of a previous reviewer) - although we did start our holiday on 29th August so probably past the really busy period.
A good play park for children and pleasant gardens.
Mostly Scandinavians staying there and a few Brits, Germans, Eastern Europeans etc.
The nearest walkable beach was large and sandy but quite windy with big waves when we were there. Much nicer sheltered sandy coves could be found at Agioi Apostoli (about 4-5 mins by bus towards Chania) which felt relatively unspoilt with 1 or 2 tavernas but still had loos and showers and also sunbeds for hire.
Don't miss the old town and harbour of Chania if you go - fabulous market, shops, restaurants, scenery and architecture.

Myself and my Fiancee have just returned from a couple of weeks in Crete, one of which was spent at the Sirios, which turned out to exceed our expectations.
For what we paid, we were expecting something cheap and cheerful, with the usual crispy bread and rubbery cheese for breakfast, sullen, underpaid staff and an overpriced Bar.
What we got was a very friendly hotel, that served excellent food, had a well equiped pool area, and very clean rooms.
It's also set back (approx 500m) from the main road, which means it's really peaceful (alot of the hotels in this area are built along the Rd - A road that's busy and so consequently noisey, 24hrs a day)
Very popular with Scandanavians and Greeks, this is a great hotel for families.
I think the proof of a good hotel is weather you would reccommend it to your friends - but as I dont have any of those, I'll reccommend it to you.
