Wonderful, air-conditioned apartments dotted around a selection of swimming pools and beautiful exotic plants. Bar by the pool and very useful hotel shop selling groceries, bus tickets, souvenirs etc.
Service:
Warm and friendly and incredibly hospitable staff - felt like we were staying with friends or family. We arrived at 11.30pm and were told that our dinner had been kept for us in case we were hungry (which we were). They ushered us into the dining hall and fed us - where else would you get service like that?? I enquired about local authentic music and sure enough, next morning I found a little piece of paper slipped under my door with a list of options.
Rooms:
Very high standard. The rooms and bathrooms were spotless, as was the dining area (inside and out). The swimming pools were very clean as well. The overall arrangement of the hotel and the apartments give the whole place a very villagey feel. Just don’t go if you have a cat-phobia!
Food:
We went for the half board option. Breakfast was out of this world. Yoghurt, honey, feta, orange juice, traditional Cretan breakfast, selection of meats and cheese, scrambled eggs, fresh bread and lots more - all on tap in a buffet style. It never ran out even if you arrived at the last minute.
Dinner was something that we looked forward to every day to see what the fantastic chef had in store. This was also served buffet style. There were at least 8 different hot dishes to choose from every day (Fish, Meat, Vegetarian, Cretan, etc) as well as plenty of salads, vegetables and bread. There was always tea and desert served in individual little plates which were different every day but always divine. My only suggestion is that it would be helpful if the meals were labelled with a brief description of what they contain. Especially for vegetarians like myself.
Locality:
The centre of the beautiful town of Chania was a 10 minute bus ride away. The bus stop is a 2 minute walk down the hill on which Sirios village stands and the buses come quite regularly and are cheap. The climb back up the hill takes somewhat longer than 2 minutes for some reason! - So I wouldn’t recommend the location to anyone with mobility problems unless they have access to a car. In the direct locality of the hotel, there are plenty of shops and restaurants. The beach was not as close as I had expected but still within walking distance.
You will not be disappointed if you come here. Except maybe on the last day, when you have to leave. We would love to go again.
