“Excellent hotel”

We were there for a week last September. Been meaning to add a review because I find the reviews so helpful myself! Excellent value for money - huge room with balcony & sea view, big bathroom and half board for about £300 between us (via freedomdirect). All staff were delightful and helpful, the maids had a laugh folding the towels into different shapes every day. The food was fine - the resort has a number of decentish basic restaurants but the hotel food was up to the standards of all of them, so we ate in most evenings. Really good resort for us - (middle aged but won't admit it) - enough to do but not hectic.

Our experience in this hotel was amazing! It was much better than we expected. Bedrooms and bathrooms are very comfortable, decoration is very nice and the hotel is always very clean. The staff is very friendly and always ready to help. The beach is just in front of the hotel and is lovely.
Meals were always very good, with plenty of options. Greek yoghurt and honey every day!! You won't be disappointed.
This hotel also has 2 pools and one of them is a nice one on the top of next door building (same owner) with a beautiful view of the blue sea, and where I could spend my mornings sunbathing before heading to another beach on the island. I advise you to rent a car to do this, so you'll make the most of your stay.
There's a small bowling in the hotel, which was a bit expensive I guess, but we had a great time there.
There are lots of pubs close to the hotel, where we used to have some beers while watching some football matches on the screen in the evenings.
The beach is perfect to relax... go to the right side of it, so you'll get more space in the sand.
I'm looking forward to come back to this place!!

Like the previous holidaymakers we stayed in the newer part of this hotel called the Alymirida Residence. The hotel was of a minimalist design in contrast to the older wing of the hotel which is more classically furnished. All the staff were helpful, especially on main reception and in the bar areas. Our room had plenty of space and the excellent balcony with sea view enabled us to watch the world go by and a fridge in the room meant that we could enjoy cold drinks at the same time. The bathroom however, if it was meant to be a wetroom, was neither one thing nor the other although if you kept nothing in there and did not mind the toilet paper getting wet everytime you had a shower, worked well - excellent towels however! The bed was one of the most comfortable we had slept in on holiday in recent times so no complaints there and the maid service to the rooms was very friendly indeed.
Our only criticism however was the buffet breakfast as chaos often prevailed and perhaps too much was attempted? Is it neccessary to provide every variety of food but not do it well? The fruit juice was very watered down and there was very little fresh fruit, but the "full english" was available! The dining area was noisy and with white tablecloths against white walls was all a bit too clinical.
As we were on B&B we used the local tavernas which were excellent but on three occasions we has dinner in the hotel at €10 a head - it was quite good and the staff friendly.
Almerida as a resort is small but relaxing and we did some local 2hr walks getting the info from the local Tourist Office - we also hired a car locally for a few days and explored the immediate area - find the "Octopus" taverna by the sea between Kefalas and Paleloni - excellent - about 5km off the main road following a sign that says " To the Sea" - wonderful location and great food. The best coffee and breakfast in the area is at Cafe Francoise just around the corner from the hotel! We enjoyed our stay at this hotel and the location and would consider returning.

“It was perfect for us.....”

Almyrida Beach Hotel

Why Almyrida and its beach hotel? Several reasons but basically we wanted to see friends who live near there, somewhere to chill with a beach, and we got reasonably cheap flights and accommodation (off the net).

Almyrida is a small village beach resort. About three quarters of an hour by car from Chania airport. There is a beach sports school, several bars and restaurants but not a lot else. Beach is mainly nice and sandy but stony in a couple of places. Bus is infrequent but there is a centrally located taxi company. Car is necessary if you want to get out and about.

Almyrida Beach Hotel- this has just doubled in size and is probably the largest and best equipped hotel in the area. The original hotel is along traditional lines but we stayed in the new extension on other side of road/car park. Plain, functional and modernist in style on both the outside and inside but we liked that. Our room was plenty big enough for 2, had balcony, air con, comfortable (twin) beds and decent wet room. Meals were taken in the new block on terrace or inside. We had half board and the food was reasonable in choice, quantity and quality, although we did eat out with friends a lot. Best food was upstairs on the roof where there is a small independent kitchen and restaurant. And it was upstairs we spent a lot of time, in the infinity pool during the day and drinking last thing at night watching the stars shimmering over the sea to one side and mountains to the other. There are two other decent sized pools, the original hotel having one surrounded by palm trees, the second a functional rectangle. At no time did we feel crowded either in the restaurant, at the bars or by the pools. Did I mention there is a ten pin bowling alley in the new extension?

Our only excursions out were to Chania for the day, beautiful harbour area with plenty to see and do, and Kalives, the next beach resort along but bigger than Alymirda with more facilities.

In conclusion we had two complaints, it was possibly too hot while we were there and we did not stay long enough! Had a fantastic time, Almyrida is a lovely little place if your aim is to relax not party. We really enjoyed staying at the hotel and every member of staff was helpful, polite, enthusiastic and basically downright nice.

My family and i have just returned from 2 weeks holiday at the almyrida beach, wow what a lovely hotel probably the best i've ever stopped in. The staff were helpful the waiters were great made a real fuss of the kids, the food was also great although we did get a little bored of eating in the same place so opted to go out for dinner a few times, if you have fussy kids like i do there was always something they liked, there are plenty of tavernas to eat at if you fancy a change,Fionas cafe just round the corner was good during the day they do a great packed lunch for the beach! If you are missing british food visit chicagos in the resort they do all sorts from curry to take away fish and chips all in all a fab holiday in a great resort and excellent hotel. We hired a car and visited limnoupolis water park had a fantastic day kids really enjoyed it plenty to do all day ,we also visited Chania in the hire car the traffic was chaos so would opt for the bus from the resort next time.
