“Trying hard to say something nice”

Chrispy Village

This was the worst holiday we have ever had. Not hard to please, we rarely grumble, but this place brings out the worst in you. The room was nice, but no sea view unless you had a telescope. The food was , well we never went hungry, but repetetive and dull it was.
The pool was very nice, but there really is nothing else there. All inclusive was a joke. Awful coctails in plastic cups which blow away. Dont bother to dress up for dinner, shorts and vests for men, or even no vest as we often saw was the normal thing. Even the surrounding area is a disappointment. Just 2 tiny shops and a taverna, oh and a garage. Beach is stoney, tide is rough. Hotel staff were miserable and unhelpful. Just a holiday we would rather write off. I felt sorry for anyone staying for 2 weeks, as we were glad to escape after one! We were the lucky ones!

“Shocking Hotel”

My friend and i booked on lastminute and thought that we had a real find in the Chrispy Hotel, the pictures made the reception area look very impressive as did the Hotels own Website. We couldn't have been more wrong. We booked a 4* all inclusive week away for £400.00. When we were driving down the narrow dirt track to get to the Hotel i knew it was not what we had thought.
The food was awful, you had to make sure you went to lunch exactly the time it started serving to make sure it was fresh, everything was uncovered, nothing was labelled so if you have any allergies, good luck.
The all inclusive drinks were a disgrace, the cocktails were undrinkable, the beer was weak and tased like water and it all ends at 11.00pm. I know of one couple who were shouted at for getting a cup of coffee just after 11.00pm - what are they going to do - recycle it!
We were given a warning by the manager for laughing at 11.00pm as the couple over the bar couldn't sleep, bearing in mind they had the cretian dancing and the music was very loud but we were singled out at lunch the next day and were asked the question "is this behaviour going to continue" obviously the Chrispy Hotel is not a place to have fun.
We went out most nights to the local town Platinias, 1 euro on the bus and got a taxi back for around 10 euro, we ate there most of the time as the food was so awful.
We paid the reduced rate for the beach sunbeds at reception, 3 euros and a free bottle of water - we did not get the water and when we sorted ourselves out on a sunbed we were told that you are only allowed to use the last three sunbeds on the end of the strip where all the stones are and they were occupied, if we wanted to stay we had to pay another 5 euros!.
Summing up i would hughly reccommend that you avoid this hotel like the plague.

“crappy Chrispy village”

Arriving at the Chrispy village, expecting 4* luxury AI, the first thing that struck my attention as being strange was the absence of a lift or porter to take the luggage on the third floor. the room was adequate but was charged 5 euros per day for the the luxury of air-condition(which didn't work). There were no handrails on the stairs which is quite dangerous. There were no shampoo or anything except for a little soap and once used was not replaced. As for the food, oh God where do I start. Most awful experience of my life considering i travel a lot. Salad with no refrigeration, no variation, hot food served cold and leftovers are used from lunch to dinner and dinner to lunch day after day. know what I mean!! if you hear Chrispy village or hotel, my advice is to stay at home or find somewhere else.
Thank God for the rest of Crete.

“not as good as it looks”

We arrived thinking we had reserved a 4* room but were given 3*. This turned out to be the lot of loads and loads of people. All different agents but the Chrispy didn't mind taking your money for the upgrades - they firmly blamed whoever you booked with but this was a big problem for many of their guests and they weren't very bothered. This is one of those places stuck out in the middle of nowhere with nothing to do. We had to hire a car just to get away from it. With a toddler it was dreadful. Nothing at all for kids apart from a playground sited in full sun and therefore boiling hot - dangerous for a little one in shorts! No children's activities or children's menus. The tavernas in Platanias (18kms away) supplied children's play areas, children's meals (and I don't mean chicken nuggets - we ordered mini souvlaki etc for our little boy) and there were even mini-funfair type places there. We felt the Chrispy were hoping for a more sophisticated clientele ie., without children.

The all-inclusive guests were given plastic beakers (except at mealtimes in the basement dungeon - sorry - I mean restaurant) and if you sat in the main bar area you were moved on! All inclusive guests were required to sit in the area behind the trellis - we looked like a bunch of monkeys in the zoo! The pool area was nice but open to a road so not very relaxing everytime the boy ran off and there were broken tiles poolside. We weren't given towels for nearly three days (they took away the perfectly clean ones and didn't replace them) and the receptionist couldn't have cared less. The bathroom air vent had been 'repaired' with toilet roll, the electric socket hung off the wall, the fridge door didn't close, the aircon didn't work, the tv wasn't tuned in etc etc etc. Expensive and not worth it - this place needs to do a lot of work to bring it to the standard of many other 4* all inclusives I've been to worldwide. Surly waiters and waitresses without any smiles even for the little ones. The most miserable place we've ever stayed! We met a German family who travelled to Crete every year and they hated it at the Chrispy. Crete is great though so go stay somewhere cheaper, friendlier and nearer to nicer beaches and things to do.

just returned from chrispy village, room was clean and spacious, pools nice. food repetitive and bland always plenty of flies in restaurant, salad bar and dessert fruit food not covered . do not expect american breakfast. was no animation team to host activities. when we booked this hol we were advised it was in the posh part of crete what a joke. also advised that we could walk to where there was life, no such luck you had to take a bus to plantanias about 20 25 mins away. no evening entertainment except for thursday night which is greek dancing!!! this hotel could be made more of by spending some money and catering for guests as there is adequate romm to do so. the only good thing whilst we were there was that the weather was good. felt sorry for people with children should have been a childs earlyl evening mealtime but due to the fact that there was no childrens rep they could not go down for the early evening meal, choice of food for children was deplorable. would not recommend this unless you like bland and boring food served with flies and liked to be in the middle of nowhere.
