i can just say that it has been one of the most beatifull place that i been so far in Creta.
Nice servise with the breakfast in the mornig and beatifull view to the Old city. the room was with the aircondition nice and clean bathrom with the hidromassage...

not very expencive like other hotels that i been befor this one.

its a cool place to go back too without thinking it twice.

My boyfriend and i were there in september.The captain vassilis room we had booked was quite small, the bathrooms not very comfortable and not the tidiest i've seen (old shower tents sticking to your body as you shower!), but the view over the old harbour was beautiful.So the description and the pictures they give do not match at all.But still because of the view we decided to book another night on our return from the trip on the southern coast, paying in advance and being reassured we'd get the same type of room, in the same building (since they own different ones).Surprise-surprise: the room was not anymore available so we were taken to another building, where we had to go up an extremely steep and dangerous scale (no exageration) to reach our room. we had been told we'd get the same kind of room with an as nice view... nothing like that! The room we were given is one of the simple ones they rent for half the price we'd payed, and the view was over the roofs snd antennas of the town!!!
We didn't protest because we were so tired and ...what the hell, we'd stay only a few hrs since our flight was early in the morning.
If we could choose again, we wouldn't go back to this hotel.

We read the bad reviews about Ifigenia before we went to Chania. The problem was that we had already booked and had no time to change before arrival, so we went anyway with very low expectations......

But our low expections was unjustified.

We got a very quite room with a great balcony with view to the old harbour. It was very clean and we got good service.

No problems at all and we could recommend a stay according to our knowledge.

Stayed at Captain Vassilis ( one of Ifigenia`s properties ) for 2 nights or, more accurately, for 2 hours sleep. Room is as pictured, but pictures don`t reveal the hard rock beat, the drunken shouts, the non stop revving of motorcycles, the garbage trucks or the mosquitos pounding into your brain ALL NIGHT. Quietly asked to be moved anywhere quiet and was told to," relax and enjoy my holiday ". To be fair, most of these complaints aren`t specific to this hotel, as anywhere on the old harbour is noisy. Save your money and content yourself with a quiet, dark room just off the harbour. Or better yet, spend more time at Rethymno - a much more vibrant town that doesn`t cater exclusively to tourists ( much better shopping as well ). Hotel Fortezza is tough to beat there.
