“Cookies were stolen!”

San Marco Hotel

I went to Mykonos through a tour group and stayed at this hotel. Cute room with a great view of the Aegean. Had bought four boxes of cookies at a famous bakery one day and when I was out meandering around, two boxes were stolen. My bags and my friend's bags were rummaged through. I told the management and they didn't seem to care. I wouldn't stay there again.

“Very Nice”

San Marco Hotel

26 May 2008

An excellent front desk staff that was courteous and helpful. My lovely room was at the top of the hill, with a tremendous view of the sea. However, a climb to the top for an elderly person requires planning. You only want to do it once a day! The food was excellent and the service polite and responsive. The breakfast mentioned in the prior review is not accurate – unless you are a very, very picky person. Transfers to and from the airport were efficient. Van service to town was efficient and on time, but you need to plan your visits around the schedule, which can be somewhat limiting. Taxi service is limited and available only after long waits. The hotel is remote to the harbor area and can’t be walked – a serious limitation from my point-of-view. The advertised beach area across from the hotel in not useable as it is all rocks – boulders – and impossible to easily navigate. The pool is, however, attractive and clean. Those who complain about the cost of drinks should remember that this is a remote island where supplies need to be shipped in at additional cost. Coupled with the declining dollar, prices are high. Complaining Americans should stay home if they can’t enjoy the uniqueness of a foreign culture – and can’t afford worldwide prices. An excellent value for my money, but I personally would much prefer to be closer the center of the town. But if you stay here, you will enjoy the entire experience - if you want to - and don’t miss Delos!

“Nice facilities, rip-off food and drink, but great experience”

We stayed at the San Marco on our honeymoon via gate1 travel. We went very early in the season when the hotel was virtually empty so the pool was unusable. It looked nice, but was clearly not heated. The breakfast was terrible (undercooked bacon, sausage that was a mini hot dog, runny eggs, etc.). We did not eat or have drinks at the hotel because of the outragous prices (almost $20 for a margarita, mojito, etc). The first room they gave us, even though the place was empty, had a terrible view. We had to ask for a different room even though they knew it was our honeymoon. The gym was pathetic (cable machine not working and few free weights). On the positive side, the rooms themselves were nice with a fridge (not yet packed with overpriced drinks). The hotel is off by itself and has a nice view of the hills and water. Very nice that they have a shuttle to take you into town and back again several times a day. You could never walk to town so you are looking at a taxi if you don't want to wait. It was a little disappointing that the maid apparently mistakenly took one of our personal towels we brought that didn't look like one of theirs. We don't expect to receive it in the mail. Overall, the hotel was above average.

“Loved the San Marco Hotel”

I experienced excellent communication/service since day one when I made the reservations over the internet. The Hotel was nice and Mr. Amara Omar was very pleasant in helping us check in. Actually, he upgraded our room to a junior suite as a compliment which warmed our hearts. The suite was beautiful and very spacious with a nice size balcony over looking the sea. Unfortunately, we did not try the restaurant but the breakfast next day was good and have enough variety. The staff were very professional. The pool was excellent especially the Kids one which my son (3 years old) loved it. The Hotel is somewhat in a quite area and there is a shuttle that goes to downtown every 15 minutes or so… but we did not needed since we rented a car. Finding the hotel from the ferry station was easy; also, going to the airport from the hotel was even easier. It took me 5 minutes to drive from the hotel to down town which I understand it’s not the case during July and August. Overall, we really loved the hotel and we will be going back next year around the same time to enjoy Mykonos at best.

“Great quiet retreat hotel”

San Marco Hotel

24 Sep 2007

A very pleasant hotel and very friendly staff.

Set in a very quiet area of the island only a short ride away from the main town but the hotel does operate a transfer service, there is also a pick up service from the port if you advise the hotel in advance.

As imention it is set in a quiet location so not for those that want to party 24/7 but great for romantis and families or those that want a retreat from the busy towns and tourist locations.

Great facilities with internet, gym, sauna, restaurant, bar, outdoor pool all you would expect.

Clean and pleasant hotel with great views the higher on the hill side your apartment is. NOTE it is located on a hill side and so there is a slight hill to climb to get to some rooms but you get used to it.

Over all very pleasant and friendly.
