I stayed here for 5 nights in late June 2007 - unfortunately they were booked out for the rest of my stay so I could not continue. The hotel is great - beautifully designed rooms which evoke the feeling of this paradise island, very simply appointed but comfortable and spotless. My room had a large terrace with spectacular views in all directions. The staff were all very helpful and friendly, although I spent most of my time exploring the island. Although there is a bus service to Faros, I would recommend hiring a car or moto to get around, particularly as the hotel is outside of the village and there are not so many restaurant choices in Faros (moto is very cheap, around 10€ per day). However, it is a great place to stay for a chilled out holiday, I will be coming back!!.

My boyfriend and I booked one room for one week in the middle of July '06. Unfortunately an urgent situation back in the office made us leave four days earlier than planned. According the law, we were obliged (and more than willing) to pay 50% of the rest of our booking (2 nights out of the four that we were supposed to stay), but the owner insisted on us paying all four nights, translating into more than 400 euros. He was very unpolite/aggressive and uninformed, and we had to call the tourism police office and request the law to be faxed back to the hotel in order to convince the owner of our rights! After that, he decided to post a warning on his website to cover similar situations ...

Beware sending a deposit to this hotel - you may never get it back if things go wrong. Back in April 2006, we booked a large room, for a week in early October 2006. The deal included car hire. All went well, the reservation staff were very helpful and friendly. A couple of weeks before we were due to stay, we were asked to send a deposit (156 Euro) by bank transfer, before our confirmaton documents would be sent. This we duly did, confiming the payment by fax and the documents were sent. The Bank confirmed all had gone through, and it cost me 30 euro to make the transaction. Three days before we were due to leave the UK, the hotel cancelled our reservation, citing bad weather on the island. We frantically found another hotel (the Petali, which I can thoroughly recommend). I am still trying to get my deposit back. They have promised and promised that they will send it. They have cited 'problems with the credit card POS' among other things. Now, there is just silence. My Bank has also tried, without fail to get my deposit back. SO BEWARE! I'm still waiting. If I get my money back (over £100 UK sterling), I'll update this report.

My boyfriend and I spent 4 nights at the Lighthouse, (19-22 Sept)and if it hadn't been for ferry schedules, we would probably have extended our stay.

The accommodation was excellent by Greek standards; clean, secure and spacious. The furniture was all in good condition and they have managed to achieve a good balance of rustic vs. modern feel...the pool area was always clean and well maintained as were the other outdoor areas and reception.

The staff were excellent. They accommodated our late arrival and extra night stay with no fuss and on more than one occasion prepared breakfast for us outside of the normal hours (the breakfast is fantastic and well worth the €10)). They were calm and helpful when we locked ourselves out (with keys in the lock on the inside!)...and they organised our car hire and transfers without incident.

Overall, the Lighthouse has a lovely relaxed feel to it, reflected in the easy nature of the staff and their gorgeous cat and dog. That, accompanied with the amazing location and views made for a fantastic start to our holiday. We only wish we had known this in advance and would have stayed longer.
