I stayed at the STAVROS HOTEL during the off-season, and loved it! The hotel owners are really nice. Very sweet people. The room was spacious and comfortable, and provided a great view of the beach. Each morning, I loved sipping coffee, having fresh baked bread, cheese and fruit watching kids play soccer (football) on the beach.
Kamares is the port town, so ferries in/out often. The bus stops in town and will transport you all over the island ... or walk up the hill to nearby towns. Along the way, you well may bump into a goat herder who nods hello: "Yas." Drivers take those blind curves fast , though - beware.
This is a small, quieter island. Be sure to view the spectacular rock formations and beaches. Some towns have only pedestrian walkways. Cars must park along the town's perimeter. Older men ride donkeys side-saddle.
I loved how different Sifnos is to Chios, Santorini, and Milos. Each island has its own personality. I had a really good time on Sifnos, and the STAVROS HOTEL was a great place to stay!
