"Faded glory" might be an alternative title for this review. Stayed here for one night (checked out early) in October 2004. No hot water the day of check in, and none the next morning either in spite of their promise that it would be working. No outside line on the room's phone either - constantly engaged tone (even in the middle of the night!). Reception simply couldn't sort that out. Peeling paint. Stained sheets. Old, thin towels. Lumpy thin matress. Ant infestation in the room. OK, so maybe 8 Oct is out of main season, and this is Greece not North America, but I still expect reasonable comfort and service. In the end I paid Euro 50 for the night - not the original rate agreed - but even at that price I have stayed in far better places. An embarrassment to Hydra! It's a beautiful island and this hotel really lets it down.
