I would heartily reccomend this guesthouse. On the icandescently beautiful island of Hydra, we were met at the ferry and donkeys carried our cases up the cobbled streets to the hotel. Large, new, spacious, comfortable and clean, the rooms are great. Nice small touches like free dvd´s by the TV. Hilda is a most gracious and personable host and serves a mean breakfast of delicious yoghurt and her homemade killer marmalade. Plenty of outdoor space to sit in the sun and take in the smell of ripening oranges and lemons. After ten days we were totally relaxed and in love with the town and its inhabitants. Wouldn´t hesitate to come back, in fact can´t wait. Our son of 15 months was a great hit and we feel like we made a new friend in Hilda and had many great encounters with the citizens of Hydra. Idyllic!

It's taken us a long time to get round to writing this review but we felt we should share what a wonderful experience we had. What a beautiful and relaxing place to stay, both the island and the hotel. We received a warm welcome from Hilda (the owner) who showed us to the Phaedra room, which was large and had its own private balcony overlooking the cobbled street below. We stayed five nights and we can't think of a better place to unwind.

Breakfasts were served on the balcony and were delicious and plentiful. Hilda's recommendations for restaurants were spot on. It's hard not to fall in love with this island and our stay at the Phaedra made it even more memorable.

My partner and I stayed in the Phaedra room, 2nd floor with a small balcony overlooking a tree lined lane. Our room was super comfortable, with a simple, straightforward elegance which would have been enough to make us happy. But the real star at Phaedra is the owner, Hilda who made us feel like old friends come to visit. When we weren't out exploring the island, it was a pleasure swapping stories with Hilda in the beautifully restored common room downstairs. I'll never forget her lemon marmelade on fresh greek yogurt. Of course she shared the recipe, but we might have to return for the real thing.

We've just returned from our 4 days year-end vacation in Hydra, Greece. Well, 4 days was the plan but we 'had' to stay 2 nights in Pireaus/Athens before the meteo conditions improve enough to allow the (fun)tastic 'flying dolphin 4' set sails to Hydra.
We've booked on the Phaedra Hotel because we were looking for something high-end and we've found it! Phaedra is not exactly an hotel for those used to travel for business as myself. It's a kind of home as we feel there so well. A little bit pricy, location is not bad, the interiors are perfect (simple tasteful decoration, Phaedra room ) and Hilda, the hotel owner, is much more than that, as said elsewhere in this forum she is 'what' makes Phaedra so special. Charmy and helpful, a guest for her is a friend.
Being cars-free, Hydra keeps the beauty of a preserved village while offering an essencial entertainment menu during low season.
