We booked two VIP rooms for two nights earlier this month and the rooms were quite comfortable, clean, and well-equiped.

At the price we paid, however, we did expect a higher quality breakfast, something we have found at other Hydra hotels in the past. At some $235 a night, one would expect some fresh-squeezed juice and fresh produce. Instead, it is sad to fly 5000 miles to get juice from a plastic dispenser and coffee from a percolator. Unacceptable!

We also had a negative experience at checkout where, at scorching temperatures, I had to stand in the claustrophobic reception area, with the air-conditioner off and a hotel employee chain-smoking nearby.

There are certain standards one should endeavor to adhere to if one wishes to draw a loyal clientele. Hanging a canopy bed and using the acronym VIP will not do, I am afraid.

Very clean room with good accommodations, quiet environment, the service desk was very helpful. But it was way overpriced, this hotel should be half the cost. Note that most of the pictures you'll find on the internet are NOT of the hotel but of the VIP rooms. In all it turns out that Hydra is overflowing with hotels and rooms to let, there is no real need to book this expensive place. Look for directories to book them offline and contact them by phone or email.
