If you want a basic hotel, where you get a bed, private shower, tv, heater...then this is your hotel. If you are looking for a hotel in which you are going to spend your entire vacation in...then this is NOT your hotel!
I originally booked with Comfort Hotel Excelsior which is across the street, but they were renovating & the sign indicated for me to go to this hotel. Which is on a corner.
Ya sure, its on "hooker-street" but its fairly safe! Ya sure, you get to see "ladies of the night" do their business by men staying in the hotel, but they won't bother you. I saw lots of families here - all types of ages - ethnicities. So if you happen to be awake passed midnight & in the lobby using their FREE internet, thats when you get to see all of the action. Other than that in the day its pretty normal & unseen by children or elderly! So basically the day you won't see it - past 9pm or 20:00 you might see some, but you have to pay attention & remember who's walking the block!!!! There are some stripper bars, but that area is lit, so no worries on getting accousted!
The inside of the hotel...there's a bar, lounge, newspapers, flat screen tv, a restroom, playstation, shoe polisher machine, Free coffee/cocoa when the machine is working & FREE internet!!!!! Now thats a plus!!!
My room...was on the 4th floor, next to the staircase! So if you book make sure you ask to not be next to the stairs, kinda noisy - but its still ok. When I walked in, I could not help but laugh! This one was TINY! One twin bed - for 1 person. But it was cleaned and had clean sheets 1 day, and there's fresh towels everyday. Not that many channels on tv, but you can use it as a radio w/their 3 channels. Other than that its basic.
Front desk - was ok...nothing spectacular. If they knew the answer to your question - thumbs up, if not...go to the free internet!
BEST THING = proximity!
3 min walk from the Central Train Station
20 min walk to City Hall that leads to "Stroget"
Near Tivoli
7-11 on the corner
hotdog stand across from 7-11
10 min walk to a real grocery store!
Around the corner on the main street a kabab restaurant, a cafe, a bar/lounge.
Bus routes easily accessible
BAD THING:
the fire alarm went off for 40 min & they didnt know how to turn it off. Even though the receptionist said "this has happened before" If it did then she would know how to turn it off! Thats what gives this review 2 dots & not 5...because thats scary to hear the fire alarm go off. They need to have a plan & tell everyone that its false. Plus there were no apologies!
Tip:
Go to Comfort Hotel website, you might find a deal vs. Expedia. I looked later, didn't realize there was a Comfort Website.
Directions from Train Station to Hotel:
From the Central Train Station - Kobenhavn H
All trains/metro go there from the Airport.
About 29 Krones from the Airport if you take the S-train.
Once you get off the train - 15 - 20 min
follow everyone to the TOP platform. You'll see a bunch of small stores inside. Then take a left & go ALL the way left. You'll see stairs going down to street level. If you go down & see the train tracks thats NOT street level, go back up the escalator & look left & keep going...not forward or right...but left!
Once outside, make right you'll see the hotdog stand & the 7-11 at the corner. Then you'll see the Comfort hotel signs.
If you are lost for more than an hour - go back into the train station! And ask for help! heeheehee!
Good luck & happy travels!
